Nam Taehyun, another disappointment… accident with drink driving before the 'recovery stage' → complete cancellation of the return
The singer Nam Taehyun bowed his head once again due to a disappointing choice. He was already on probation for drug-related charges, but it has now been revealed that he is under police investigation for a drink driving accident, resulting in the complete cancellation of his scheduled return to the stage.
Nam Taehyun was expected to have an official comeback stage through the music festival 'K-pop Week in Hongdae' scheduled for the 6th. Before the event, he promised to communicate with his fans, stating, "I will show a stage with a message of reflection on the past and recovery."
Yoon Hyung-bin, the event organizer, had also decided cautiously to put him on stage. At a press conference, Yoon Hyung-bin noted, "Nam Taehyun's case was quite delicate. He has done a lot of good deeds recently, and I got the impression that he has been reflecting on himself, so I decided it was right to give him a chance."
However, just two days before the performance on the 4th, news of Nam Taehyun's sudden cancellation of his grants was reported, with the reason being revealed as the drink driving accident.
According to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, Nam Taehyun caused a single-vehicle accident around 4:10 a.m. on the 27th of last month, while trying to overtake another vehicle near the Dongjak Bridge toward Ilsan on the Gangbyeonbuk-ro. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but his blood alcohol content was at a level that would result in license revocation (0.08% or higher). He is currently under police investigation for violating traffic laws.
Nam Taehyun was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year probation for drug-related charges in 2023. However, this drink driving incident raises the possibility of revoking his probation and serving actual time.
This has once again brought great disappointment to the public, fans, and Yoon Hyung-bin, who had worked hard to provide him with an opportunity to perform.
