Contentree JoongAng recorded high sales thanks to strong content performances.
Contentree JoongAng announced on the 8th that it recorded a consolidated revenue of 225.2 billion won and an operating loss of 12.1 billion won for the first quarter of 2025.
SLL recorded a consolidated revenue of 139.7 billion won and an operating loss of 4.5 billion won for the first quarter of 2025. The revenue increased by 35.7% compared to the same period last year and by 21% compared to the previous quarter, and the proportion of overseas and new businesses has increased, which buoyed the results. Overseas sales amounted to 74.5 billion won, with overseas sales accounting for 56%, indicating that content supply through global platforms has entered a significant growth phase.
In the first quarter, major works such as "The Tale of Lady Ok," "The Art of Negotiation," and "Heavenly Ever After" achieved success on domestic and international platforms such as Netflix, Tving, U-NEXT, and Viu. SLL plans to present major anticipated works in the second quarter, including the Netflix original "Needed for This Star" and the upcoming releases on Disney+ and Prime Video, "Good Boy." Additionally, global original series like Netflix's "Undertow Season 1," Prime Video's "The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3," and HBO's "Task" are set to air in the latter half of the year, indicating expectations for ongoing improvements in performance due to expanded global content supply and diversified profitability.
Moreover, SLL is making strides in expanding into music, entertainment, and global sectors in addition to its drama and film production business. In April, it acquired equity in Studio Slam and is increasing its competitive entertainment portfolio with programs such as "Culinary Class Wars Season 2" and "Just Makeup." The idol group Close Your Eyes, under the SLL label Uncore, recorded sales of 310,000 copies of their debut album and marked their first place on music charts just six days after their debut, heralding the start of a full-scale music business.
Additionally, SLL is continuing its path to becoming a global IP powerhouse by engaging in co-productions and remake developments with numerous overseas production companies.
