Friends of the late Choi Eun-hee reported that she remained steadfast under public scrutiny after being abducted.
In the MBN program "Special Report" aired on the 8th, actress Jang Hee-jin, the niece of the late Choi Eun-hee, appeared. At 81, he showed remarkable memorization skills with sparkling eyes, surprising everyone.
Notably, Jang Hee-jin was not originally on the path of an actress. Jang Hee-jin said, "As I watched my aunt act, I wanted to act, but since my aunt influenced me and my uncles are film directors and run record companies, I was encouraged to pursue a career in education because we have a school in the family."
Ultimately, the change that came to him, who was working as a Korean language teacher at Anyang Arts High School, was the abduction of director Shin Sang-ok and actress Choi Eun-hee. They were his aunt and uncle.
Jang Hee-jin said, "When my aunt and uncle escaped from North Korea, they sought asylum in the United States while escaping from Vienna, Austria. Director Shin Sang-ok and actress Choi Eun-hee are my aunt and uncle," adding, "My aunt couldn't give birth, but when I was the first girl born, she doted on me. Even when I grew up, she carried me around, and since I was the eldest niece, we talked a lot," explaining why their bond was particularly special.
The late Choi Eun-hee, who was advised by someone in Hong Kong to form a sisterhood relationship, was thought to have been murdered after losing contact for three days. The couple later defected eight years later but took another 13 years to return to South Korea.
Ko Eun-jeong, a friend of the late Choi Eun-hee, said, "I cried a lot when Choi Eun-hee returned. I remember crying and asking what I had done wrong, as the intelligence agency harassed me and prevented me from entering South Korea. There were rumors that continued to circulate for a long time. Even when she entered the nursing home, she heard them. However, I think she used her own money to help people and went about it proudly, without losing her dignity as an actress."
