"I took the male lead's first night" opened the prologue of a full-scale route deviation romance fantasy, starting with a script reading.

KBS 2TV's new Wednesday-Thursday drama "I took the male lead's first night" (directed by Lee Woong-hee, Kang Soo-yeon / written by Jeon Seon-young / produced by Studio N, Monster Union / based on the Naver Series web novel "I took the male lead's first night" by Hwang Dotol) is a "no-break" route deviation romance fantasy that unfolds as a common female college student's soul interacts with an obsessive male lead in the novel during a one-night stay.

On that day, the cast, including Seo Hyun (as Cha Sun-taek), Ok Taek-yeon (as Ibeon), Kwon Han-sol (as Jo Eun-ae), Seo Beom-joon (as Jeong Soo-gyeom), and Ji Hye-won (as Dohwa-seon), gathered with directors Lee Woong-hee and Kang Soo-yeon, along with writer Jeon Seon-young, to synchronize their performances. Amid a mix of excitement for the beginning and passion for the project, the actors immersed themselves into their characters and heated up the scene.

First, Seo Hyun playfully and briskly presented the character of Cha Sun-taek, a supporting role from a romance novel set in the Joseon era, embodied by contemporary female college student K. By adding simple hand gestures and body movements to the cheerful and lively actions of the MZ female college student who found herself in an unfamiliar time period, she brought life to her lines.

Ok Taek-yeon, who plays the cold-blooded male lead Ibeon, captured attention with a composed demeanor and firm gaze, showcasing a contrast in charm with warm expressions during the scene opposite Seo Hyun. In particular, the character's unexpected charm was revealed through a casual tone coupled with caring glances.

Kwon Han-sol portrayed the character Jo Eun-ae, the female protagonist in the romance novel, with a calm and soft tone, capturing the unique atmosphere of her reserved and cautious nature. Seo Beom-joon, stepping into the role of the supporting male lead Jeong Soo-gyeom, who is responsible for the love triangle within the novel, filled the scene with a warm presence through his relaxed pacing. Ji Hye-won expressed the direct nature of the antagonistic character Dohwa-seon through sharp dialogue and unpredictable lines, injecting new tension into the reading scene.
In this way, the five actors blended into their respective characters, creating a lively atmosphere from the start. The rapidly flowing developments, the witty exchanges among characters, and the actors' cheerful energy heightened expectations.

After the script reading, Seo Hyun expressed her affection, saying, "It’s just really fun," and added, "Every moment is filled with incredibly entertaining scenes." Ok Taek-yeon also noted, "The unfolding stories and relationships were very interesting," sharing points of interest and increasing curiosity about "I took the male lead's first night."

The KBS 2TV new Wednesday-Thursday drama "I took the male lead's first night," completed with the actors' intense passion, will meet viewers on June 11 (Wednesday) at 9:50 p.m.

Meanwhile, as filming has been ongoing since last September, netizens expressed outrage over reports of cultural heritage damage. Some have even suggested a boycott of the drama. The controversy escalated when several staff members hammered nails into a wooden pillar during filming at Byeongsan Seowon.

As the controversy grew, KBS released an official statement, saying, "Regardless of the reason, KBS recognizes the seriousness of the situation that occurred on set and sincerely apologizes. We are currently discussing what the best way to accurately assess the situation and restore it is."
