Choi Soo-young revealed her thoughts on playing an alcohol-dependent woman.
During the production presentation for the new tvN Monday-Tuesday drama 'Second Shot at Love,' held online on the 7th, Choi Soo-young introduced her role as Han Geum-joo, saying, "She is a skilled mechanic with 10 years of experience who excels at both work and drinking. After growing up in a family of heavy drinkers, she meets her first love, whom she hates for drinking, and challenges herself to quit drinking."
He added, "I lived hard to survive in a place filled with men. As a result, drinking became a habit, leading to alcohol dependence. I can't fall asleep without alcohol and depend on it. This character goes back to her hometown and reunites with her first love. The story depicts her journey of quitting drinking, growing, and healing under her family's care."
I discussed extensively with director Jang Yoo-jung how to express and set the degree of alcohol dependence. Choi Soo-young said, "There are people around me who don't seem like they're alcohol dependent. I observed and thought about them. At first, I genuinely deny my own addiction. It's expressed in detail in the script."
