Trot singer Song Ga-in (39) urged caution, stating that a manager impersonation scam has occurred.
On the 6th, Song Ga-in's agency, Jayestars, announced in an urgent notice, "Recently, a so-called 'proxy purchasing' scam has occurred, where individuals impersonating our employees have fraudulently obtained money and goods."
The agency stated, "These individuals impersonate Song Ga-in's manager, approach small business owners under the pretense of team dinners, and demand that if they purchase wine from a certain supplier, they will pay for it together during the dinner," adding, "Our employees do not request money or items from outside sources under any circumstances."
They further noted, "If you receive similar requests, there is a high possibility that it is a crime, so please do not send money or respond at all," stressing, "Please verify that the person is indeed our employee, and if you have suffered any damages, please report to the police immediately. We will do our best to ensure similar incidents do not occur."
The messages between the impersonator and the store owner, which were also shared, included the impersonator sending a fake business card and requesting, "Please send a simple receipt or intermediary invoice.” Song Ga-in also shared the situation on her Instagram the same day, urging, "Please be cautious to prevent fraud damage."
