Ju Jihoon from 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call', Kim Tae-ri from 'Youth, Goodbye', Cho Jung-seok from 'Pilot', and Jeon Do-yeon from 'Revolver' raised the Baeksang trophy. IU and Park Bo-gum missed out on individual awards but congratulated their colleagues from 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' on their wins.

The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci was held on 5th at 8 p.m. in Hall D of COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. This awards ceremony, hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum, is the only comprehensive arts awards in Korea that encompasses broadcasting, film, and theater.

The female best performance award, which had unpredictable contenders such as Go Min-shi from 'No One in the Forest', Kim Tae-ri from 'Youth, Goodbye', Kim Hye-yoon from 'Leap with Sunjae', IU from 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', and Jang Na-ra from 'Good Partner', went to Kim Tae-ri. He remarked, "It is an honor to act in the most brilliant period of women's national opera. I feel embarrassed because I feel unworthy of receiving this award. I tried not to compromise. It wasn't the absolute answer, but it was my romance then. I think this is a desire to do better next time. I will become an actor who uses that desire to strive forward."

The star of 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call', Ju Jihoon, surpassed Park Bo-gum from 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', Byun Woo-seok from 'Leap with Sunjae', Lee Joon-hyuk from 'Good or Bad Dong-jae', and Han Seok-kyu from 'A Familiar Betrayer'. He stated, "First, I want to thank the viewers who enjoyed our work. I deeply feel that as an actor, I can't do anything alone without my colleagues. This feels like a representative greeting to those who created and enjoyed together. I will meet you with a work that can communicate enjoyably."

Yeom Hye-ran, who won the female supporting role award for 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', stated, "Here are our kids, and mom received an award. It’s not Director General, it's Jang-won. 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' felt like another role, not just a staff. I want to sincerely say I love my daughter and mother and thank those viewers who remember me as Kwang-rye." He became emotional.

Choi Tae-hoon, who won the male supporting role award for 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', exclaimed, "This seems to be the best present among the gifts I received on Children's Day. The thrill, worry, and happiness I felt when I got a call from director Kim Won-seok and writer Im Sang-chun are an unforgettable journey. Whenever I feel tired and exhausted in this harsh world, shout out loud, 'Haks!' from there!" He received applause.

The best director award in the film sector went to Oh Seung-wook for 'Revolver'. He remarked, "Winning an award makes me want to do more. I thought this might be my last work, but I want to receive more awards again. This is my second collaboration with Jeon Do-yeon, and I learned how to express human misery well. I thank actress Jeon Do-yeon for the homework she gave me."

Park Chan-wook and writer Shin Cheol became winners of the best screenplay award in the film section with 'Jeon, Ran'. He said, "This is the first screenplay award I receive for a film I directed. I'm feeling good. While looking at the political situation of our country, I often thought about Jeon Ran. The brave and wise citizens save a country in crisis. It is now time to elect a leader that matches the great level of our citizens. Let's choose someone who should fear the citizens, not the foolish ancestors performed by Cha Seung-won in the movie."

Writer Shin Cheol stated, "There was a foolish king 400 years ago. What I know 400 years later is that this fact was clearly recorded in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty and that there was an unnamed historian who expressed his anger on behalf of the people. Their courage and heart have reached me 400 years later. I want to dedicate this honor to that person who compiled the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty."

Jeon Do-yeon, who won the best performance award for 'Revolver', said, "I thought it was sufficient when the director received the award. When I met the director to have a short and joyful talk when I wasn't working with him. Since we did 'A Dirty Story', I felt anxious. The goal was to find a new face of Jeon Do-yeon. That's why I shined. I thank the actors and staff," and smiled.

The male winner was unexpected. Cho Jung-seok from 'Pilot', who surpassed Yoon Joo-sang from 'Morning Sea Seagulls', Lee Byung-hun from 'Battle', and Lee Hee-jun from 'Handsome Guys', was the protagonist. He said, "I really didn't expect this. I wanted to win an award, but it was a challenge. I was worried and wondered if it was an unreasonable challenge while filming. I worked with the director and senior and junior actors, and I am grateful for being recognized. I wanted to win," and was happy.

The male entertainment award was won by Shin Dong-yup, surpassing Kim Won-hoon, Dex, Sung Si-kyung, and Yoo Jae-suk. He noted, "It feels like my head is going blank, just like when I received the rookie award. I received an unexpected award. My heart is pounding. I felt a bit bewildered. I thought they were considering me because I’ve hosted for a long time. I thought it wouldn’t be strange if Kim Won-hoon, who I truly love, received the award or anyone else could have won it," he said humbly.

Lee Su-ji, who won the female entertainment award, expressed, "There are many good people around funny people. When the stage disappeared and I fell into a slump, the 'SNL' team reached out to me. I truly love you. I also want to thank the 'Hot Issue' team for always letting me work joyfully. There are times when I get criticism, but there are many viewer messages. Thanks to you all," she shouted, receiving applause.
