Comedian Lee Su-ji transformed the stage with laughter and emotion while winning the entertainment award at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards.

At the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards held on Dec. 5 at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, Lee was named the winner of the women's entertainment award, beating out fierce competitors including Jang Doyoun, Ji Ye-eun, Hae-won, and Hong Jin Kyung. Even her acceptance speech was filled with Lee Su-ji's signature cheerfulness and sincerity.

She got on stage and said, 'Thank you. Kim Won-ho said he dreamed that I was covered in feces. I'm a Christian. I look best when I'm being funny,' opening with her unique wit.

'There are many good people around funny people. When the stage disappeared and I fell into a slump, the 'SNL' team reached out to me. I really love them. I also want to thank the 'Hot Issue Ji' team for always allowing me to work joyfully,' she said, conveying heartfelt gratitude to the production team for believing in her and giving her opportunities.

She also did not forget to express gratitude toward her family. She said, 'There is one more director when I go home. He is a husband with a better sense than me. I also thank my mother for passing on the comedy genes,' bringing laughter from the audience.

Above all, Lee candidly shared her realistic concerns and hardships, eliciting empathy. She joked, 'Wearing a dress like this is better than parenting,' but added, 'I often receive criticism, but when I see viewer messages saying, 'My depression is getting better,' and 'I laughed today,' it gives me strength. This is all thanks to you.' This earned her a huge round of applause.

Meanwhile, the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards held that day is the only comprehensive arts awards ceremony in South Korea, encompassing broadcasting, film, and theatrical institutional sectors, gathering artists from various fields.

Lee is a comedian who is regaining attention through her work in 'SNL Korea' and 'Hot Issue Ji.' On this day, her heartfelt acceptance speech made it 'the funniest day, the prettiest day.'
