Comedian Lee Soo-ji has taken over the Baeksang Awards.
At the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards held on the 5th, Lee was selected as the female winner of the variety award, defeating Jang Doyoun, Ji Ye-eun, Haewon, and Hong Jin Kyung. Upon taking the stage, he said, "Thank you. Kim Won-hoon said that he dreamed I was covered in poop, but I am a Christian. I look the prettiest when I make people laugh."
He also greeted, "There are many good people around funny people. When the stage disappeared and I fell into a slump, the 'SNL' team reached out to me. I truly love them. I thank the 'Hot Issue' team for always allowing me to work joyfully."
Lee said, "When I go home, there is one more director. I have a husband with a better sense than me. I also thank my mother for passing down the comedy gene," expressing his affection for his family with humor.
In particular, he shouted, "I like wearing a dress here more than raising children," adding, "Although I get scolded sometimes, there are many viewer messages saying, 'My depression is getting better,' and 'I laughed today.' Thanks to you all," which garnered applause.
The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci, held on the 5th at 8 p.m. at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, is the only comprehensive arts awards ceremony in the country encompassing broadcasting, film, and theater.
