When Life Gives You Tangerines actor Yeom Hye-ran and Choi Dae-hoon swept the supporting actor awards.
At the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards held on the 5th, Yeom Hye-ran from 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' won the award for Best Supporting Actress in the television category, defeating Kim Guk-hee from 'Family Planning,' Kim Jae-hwa from 'The Tale of Lady Ok,' Oh Kyung-hwa from 'The Story of Jeong-nyeon,' and Jung Eun-chae from 'The Story of Jeong-nyeon.' Choi Dae-hoon claimed the Best Supporting Actor award, surpassing Kim Jun-han from 'Good Partner,' No Jae-won from 'Squid Game,' Yun Kyung-ho from 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call,' and Hyun Bong-sik from 'Good or Bad Dong-jae.'
Yeom Hye-ran said, "Here are our Ye-soon girls, and mom received an award. It’s not Director General; it's the best one. I send warm applause to the fellow actors who were nominated alongside me. I am constantly inspired. There are many outstanding actresses. There are truly accomplished actors regardless of age. I express my deep respect."
He added, "When Life Gives You Tangerines felt like not just a staff, but another character. I’m thankful to the viewers who remember me as Gwang-rye. I'm so grateful to have acted in the same era as writer Im Sang-chun and director Kim Won-seok. I want to sincerely tell my daughter and mother that I love them."
Choi Dae-hoon, who received the Best Supporting Actor award, said, "It really feels like a hidden camera. It’s such a precious and honorable award. I think it will be the best gift among those I received on Children's Day. I think I have not received many awards in life just to earn this one. I am so grateful."
He continued, "The thrill, concern, and joy I felt when I received the call from director Kim Won-seok and writer Im Sang-chun is an unforgettable journey. I started this job because of the image that people love, but I ended up finding my own fulfillment and receiving comfort. I will continue to comfort everyone more in the future. I will become an actor who fulfills my responsibilities and duties. I will become an actor who has a happy influence."
In particular, Choi Dae-hoon mentioned his catchphrase, saying, "In this difficult and harsh world, whenever you struggle and feel exhausted, just look there and shout, 'Hak-ssi!'" which received applause.
The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci, held on the 5th at 8 p.m. at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, is the only comprehensive arts awards ceremony in Korea that encompasses television, film, and theater.
