The return to the stage of singer Nam Tae-hyun, who was sentenced to probation for drug use, has been canceled.

On the 4th, the organizers of 'K-Pop Week in Hongdae' confirmed to OSEN, "It is true that Nam Tae-hyun's performance scheduled for the 6th has been canceled. We are currently processing refunds."

'K-Pop Week in Hongdae' is a music festival taking place at various small theaters such as K-Pop Stage, Sang Sang Madang, Musinsa Garage, and H Stage near Hongdae from the 1st to the 11th. It aims for close interaction between fans and artists under the slogan "Closer, More Sincerely."

The news of singer Nam Tae-hyun's participation in this 'K-Pop Week in Hongdae' caught attention. He had previously faced controversy for drunk driving and was embroiled in drug use allegations in 2022.

Nam Tae-hyun was prosecuted for allegedly using methamphetamine with Seo Min-jae at his home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in August 2022, and for allegedly using methamphetamine alone overseas in December of the same year. The court later sentenced him to one year in prison with a two-year probation.

Afterward, Nam Tae-hyun confessed to his financial struggles on a broadcast, while emphasizing his resolve to maintain sobriety and updating on his album preparations. In March of last year, he stated, "I made a huge mistake, but I am sincerely reflecting and taking each day as it comes," adding, "I have moved into a space in the same building after leaving the rehabilitation center and am continuing to strengthen my resolve to stay sober."

Regarding Nam Tae-hyun's return to the stage, Yoon Hyung-bin, the planner of 'K-Pop Week in Hongdae,' mentioned at a press briefing held last month, "The discussion about Nam Tae-hyun was quite cautious. There was some controversy, wasn't there? I also did a lot of searching. Recently, he has been doing a lot of good deeds, and public opinion on the internet was better than expected."

He continued, "My brother is trying to do well and wants to reflect on the past and get on stage. I thought it would be nice to help, even if just a little, so I cautiously made the suggestion. Tae-hyun also thought a lot and asked, 'Wouldn't it make many people uncomfortable if I came out now?' But I thought, 'Shouldn't I greet the fans who still like Tae-hyun?"

Meanwhile, Nam Tae-hyun debuted in 2014 as a member of the group Winner but left after two years. He then left his agency and has been active in the band South Club.
