The Haunted Palace starring Yook Sung-jae and Kim Ji-yeon faces a new "Won-hwan-ghost," leading to another wave of turmoil.
The SBS fantasy historical drama "Haunted Palace" (written by Yoon Soo-jung, directed by Yoon Sung-sik), which is uniquely presented in 2025, features the shaman Yeori, who rejects the destiny of a medium, and a serpent spirit named Gang-cheol, trapped in the body of Yeori's first love, Yoon-gab. It confronts the eight-legged ghost, who holds a grudge against the royal family, resulting in an entanglement of body and soul. The fresh romance between the serpent spirit and the shaman amidst hate and love, coupled with the rapid pace that keeps viewers riveted, alongside a palace mystery and a feast of K-monsters, continues to generate buzz.
In the 5th episode, a shocking development unfolded as Prince Yeong-in (Kim Seon-bin) was sacrificed as an offering to the eight-legged ghost due to a plot by Poongsan (Kim Sang-ho). Meanwhile, Gang-cheol (Yook Sung-jae), Yeori (Kim Ji-yeon), and King Lee Jeong (Kim Ji-hoon) began their collaboration to finally confront the eight-legged ghost, dramatically summoning it to elevate the intrigue. Additionally, it was revealed that Gang-cheol must deplete all the luminous jewels he possesses and sacrifice himself to eliminate the eight-legged ghost, raising curiosity about how the confrontation will unfold.
"The Haunted Palace" team revealed the scene of Gang-cheol and Yeori summoning a new ghost, the "Su-ghost," laden with deep resentment, ahead of the broadcast of the 6th episode on the 3rd, creating an explosive tension. In the released stills, Gang-cheol and Yeori are preparing the summoning ritual by a deserted riverside, where their intensely strained expressions hint that the Su-ghost they are about to summon is no ordinary entity.
Amid the tension, a crucial two-shot of the two facing the unknown Su-ghost unfolds, heightening the stakes. Moments before the ritual, Yeori, as if gambling with life and death, extends the end of a white cloth tightly wrapped around her body to Gang-cheol, who receives it with a resolute gaze. Gang-cheol is seen pulling the cloth with all his might, while also shown drenched and in shock, escalating the palpable tension. Consequently, attention is drawn to the reason Gang-cheol and Yeori summoned the Su-ghost and how their confrontation with this chilling ghost will unfold.
Meanwhile, the SBS fantasy rom-com "Haunted Palace," which is gaining popularity with its differentiated appeal, will broadcast the 6th episode on the 3rd at 9:55 p.m.
