Actor Ryeo Un shared the story behind his weight gain.

On the 1st, an interview with actor Ryeo Un, the lead of the Netflix series ‘Weak Hero Class 2,’ was conducted at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.

‘Weak Hero Class 2’ is a work that depicts the brutal survival story and brilliant coming-of-age tale of a model student, Yeon Si-eun (Park Ji-hoon), who transferred to Eunjang High School carrying the trauma of having faced violence for a friend but ultimately being unable to protect them, and confronts even greater violence to never lose a friend again.

Ryeo Un played the righteous leader of Eunjang High School, ‘Baku,’ Park Hu-min, in the Netflix series ‘Weak Hero Class 2,’ which was released on the 25th of last month, showcasing an unprecedented performance that vividly portrays the narrative of youth’s growth and captured the attention of global viewers.

In particular, he showed his effort to gain 10 kg for this project, undergoing a drastic transformation to match the character’s visuals.

On this day, Ryeo Un recalled, “I enjoyed the original and season 1 so much that as soon as I got the offer, I said, ‘I really want to do this,’ and ‘I have to do it.’ At that time, I was a bit thin, so I thought I needed to exercise more and eat a lot.”

He continued, “The director also mentioned that since Park Hu is originally very strong, it would not look good for me to break a helmet with such a thin body, so I thought we should bulk up,” explaining the background of his weight gain.

Additionally, he joked, “I have lost over 10 kg now. I tend to gain weight easily, so I was actually happy. Losing the weight was tough. I originally really love eating. I gained 10 kg in about a month or two, and I ate mala xiang guo three to four times a week. I ate a lot of meat and chicken as well. I had happy days. In the past, I had to show results, so I kept exercising but couldn’t eat much. I only ate chicken breast. Now, I keep exercising, but I was happy to be able to eat whatever I wanted.”

Moreover, when asked if he was concerned about his ‘original handsome visuals,’ he laughed and said, “Not at all. I couldn’t even get a number in Gyu Il High School. So I was thinking I shouldn’t be too handsome.”
