Actor Kim Soo-hyun has reportedly been sued for a large amount of damages by an advertiser once again. This time, a lawsuit worth approximately 2.8 billion won has been filed, and the agency stated, "It has not yet been confirmed whether a lawsuit has been filed."
According to reports on the 2nd, Company D, which had a modeling contract with Kim Soo-hyun, filed a lawsuit for damages worth approximately 2.8 billion won at the Seoul Central District Court on the 25th of last month. Previously, Companies A and B also filed lawsuits, indicating that advertisers' legal responses are gradually spreading.
Company D stated they suffered serious damage to their brand image due to the recent controversy surrounding Kim Soo-hyun's personal life and expressed intentions to terminate the modeling contract and demand damages. They specified Kim Soo-hyun's liability and reportedly claimed that the agency is also responsible.
Earlier, on the 29th of last month, Companies A and B filed lawsuits for the return of modeling fees and damages worth approximately 3 billion won, and Company C is also considering legal action. There are suggestions that the total amount in lawsuits could rise to about 10 billion won.
In response, Kim Soo-hyun's agency Gold Medalist maintained the same position, stating, "It has not yet been confirmed whether a lawsuit has been filed." As with previous lawsuits, they intend to continue a cautious response until legal review.
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun became embroiled in past dating allegations with the late Kim Sae-ron and has faced grooming controversies and allegations of personal life leakage. In response, Kim Soo-hyun's side stated, "The relationship occurred after reaching adulthood, and there was no financial pressure or threats," countering the allegations and initiating legal action.
On the 31st of last month, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference where he denied all allegations. He then filed a lawsuit against the bereaved family of the late Kim Sae-ron and the YouTube channel "Garosero Research Institute" for defamation and violation of the stalking punishment law, also seeking damages of about 12 billion won.
However, even after the clarification, the advertising industry reacted swiftly. Numerous brands deleted Kim Soo-hyun's advertisement videos, and the production team of the scheduled entertainment program "Good Day" edited out his segments entirely. The Disney+ original series "Knock-Off," in which he had a leading role, also halted filming, and the release schedule is currently undecided.
