As the Wave entertainment show "Your Love" has been embroiled in controversy regarding its grants, it has decided to go off air today (2nd).
On the afternoon of the 1st, Wave stated, "Episodes 3 and 4 of the Wave original 'Your Love,' which were scheduled to be released on May 2nd (Friday) at 11 a.m., will take a week off to reorganize the program," and requested, "We ask for your deep understanding, viewers."
On that day, a Wave representative noted regarding the SNS revelations among the grants, "We are currently in the process of confirming, " and remained tight-lipped. Ultimately, the decision was made to take a week off, seemingly conscious of the SNS revelations and controversy.
"Your Love," which was first released on the 25th of last month, has drawn attention as Korea's first lesbian dating entertainment program.
However, controversy arose when it was revealed that grant member Ri-won had participated in adult internet 'Bebang' (a program in which participants undress while broadcasting) in the past, and claims emerged that she is not a homosexual. Furthermore, there were allegations that she made inappropriate suggestions to one of the grants.
On the 1st, Han-gyeol stated on her personal account, "There were no romantic feelings between me and the relevant grant (Ri-won) during filming; there was only a friendship exchange. I hope the meaning of viewing is not diminished due to misunderstandings. After the broadcast, the relevant grants and I maintained contact at a level of exchanging greetings," and added, "During that time, I received a suggestion to go on an overseas schedule together, which I initially understood as a simple travel invitation. However, as I heard more specific details such as a dinner date, I realized it was an inappropriate proposal that crossed a line. Therefore, I clearly communicated my refusal."
Han-gyeol also remarked, "I want to emphasize that I am not the only one who received similar proposals. Using false claims of having resolved the past, sexual orientation should not be used as a mask to easily induce someone into that industry."
In contrast, Ri-won firmly countered Han-gyeol's claims, stating, "The part about ‘overseas schedules’ that she mentioned was just a simple conversation we had about food preferences while filming in the lodging, jokingly suggesting we travel to that country. It was just a simple promise made in front of the camera," and added, "However, I am already aware that I lack trust in my words because I appeared on the show while hiding my past. Therefore, I even attached evidence with the mindset of clinging to a straw. However, to prevent secondary damage to anyone, I masked all names before releasing the messages."
The disclosed photos also contained KakaoTalk messages exchanged with the "Your Love" grant. One grant expressed anger towards Ri-won, stating, "You said you saved it until the end, and now you're saying we are in a pseudo-relationship. What is the title of the person you mentioned who would introduce me to Billboard? Go ahead and tell me. You can't do that, can you? You only changed the setting according to the target?"
In response, Ri-won apologized, saying, "No, the person mentioned is really the head of the Billboard Korea team, who is my influencer agency representative. I understand that the chemistry we had while appearing on the show with my bad past must have made you uncomfortable and disgusted. I realize all of that and I have been feeling sorry about it. I will ask the PD to see if I can edit it in the direction you want. I'm really sorry." During this process, the name of Choi Si-hoon, who is married to singer Ailee, was mentioned, causing another controversy.
Afterward, Ri-won stated on her SNS, "I want to briefly mention that there are people who have been harmed due to my comments. The individual mentioned in the KakaoTalk captures attached to my previous statement is someone who often gives me work-related advice, and contrary to some misunderstandings, she is not my private entertainment representative. Since I first mentioned it in the hope of musically helping the party purely, the person did not make any kind of business proposal to me. The agency I am currently working with is a different general TikTok agency company, not the company mentioned."
Finally, Ri-won added, "To prevent baseless rumors or harm from spreading to the company involved, I intend to organize my work with that company in the future," and requested, "I earnestly ask for all speculation and indiscriminate mentions regarding all parties involved with me to please stop."
