Actor Kim Soo-hyun (37) has been sued for damages by an advertiser again. The amount claimed this time is approximately 2.8 billion won. When combined with the 3 billion won amounts sued by two other advertisers, the total amount in lawsuits so far is about 6 billion won.
According to a media report on the 2nd, Company C filed a lawsuit seeking approximately 2.8 billion won in damages against Kim Soo-hyun and his agency Gold Medalist on April 25 at the Seoul Central District Court. In this regard, the agency noted that it could not confirm whether the lawsuit had been filed.
Earlier, around the end of March, Companies A and B filed a lawsuit for the return of model fees and damages. The amount claimed by A and B is approximately 3 billion won.
Kim Soo-hyun was embroiled in allegations that he had dated Kim Sae-ron (25) since her minor years for six years earlier this year. Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on February 16, Kim Soo-hyun's birthday.
Kim Soo-hyun is reported to have received approximately 1 billion to 1.2 billion won in advertising fees based on domestic standards. Due to these allegations, over 15 brands, including Homeplus, which Kim Soo-hyun was representing, have halted their promotions. The industry estimates that the advertising penalties alone will exceed 20 billion won.
Earlier, on March 31, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference and wept while saying, "It is not true that I was in a relationship during the deceased's minor years," adding, "It is also not true that due to my disregard and the fact that our agency pressured the deceased for debt, a tragic choice was made."
Kim Soo-hyun also raised allegations of manipulation of KakaoTalk messages released by the bereaved family in 2016 and 2018. Currently, Kim Soo-hyun's side has filed a civil and criminal lawsuit seeking 12 billion won in damages against the bereaved family and Kim Se-ui, the operator of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute.
