MBC weathercaster late Oh Yoanna's brother expressed his grief on the occasion of his sister's birthday.

The late Oh Yoanna's biological brother posted a lengthy message on his SNS account on the 30th of last month, which was the deceased's birthday, thanking everyone who mourned his sister's death and prayed for her soul.

That day, the brother of the deceased said, "Today, I prepared a small birthday table with the foods Yoanna loved. It was a birthday that we celebrated every year, but it is still hard to believe that there is no sister whom I can contact anymore," and added, "Looking at the collection of evidence in my sister's cellphone that seems to have been prepared for her afterlife, I feel that my sister's last choice was not made impulsively, and it is still heartbreaking."

He continued, "What we want to emphasize is that the bullying my sister experienced is not an unfair experience that anyone might face in life, but rather 'a level of bullying that could drive a person to death.' My sister made the choice to give up on life after enduring terrible pain, while some are still delivering the weather nonchalantly and enjoying their peaceful daily lives."

He stated, "My sister has disappeared from this world, but their nonchalance in going through their daily lives feels like additional harm to us," and emphasized, "The bereaved family hopes that the perpetrators and those who stood by will acknowledge their mistakes and offer genuine apologies and reflections."

Lastly, he added, "In order for our sister to rest peacefully even in heaven, I express the desire to clear her injustices. I ask for continued interest in this matter going forward."

Previously, the late Oh Yoanna suddenly passed away in September of last year. At that time, the cause of death was not disclosed, but it was reported that a 17-page will was discovered in Oh Yoanna's cellphone, which was unlocked while allegations of workplace bullying against her were raised in January.

According to reports, the will contained accounts of being bullied by two specific weathercasters. It was reported that one of the fellow weathercasters who joined the company first spread false information and pinned it on Oh Yoanna, while another colleague accused her, saying, 'A junior dares to correct a senior' when she requested corrections to inaccurate weather information.

In response, MBC issued an official statement, noting, "However, the clear fact we can verify is that the deceased never reported her grievances to the relevant departments (Management Support Division's Personnel Counseling Room, Audit Division Clean Center) or the responsible managers she worked with while she worked as a freelancer." They added, "If the deceased had officially reported her grievances (such as workplace bullying) to the company at that time or at least informed responsible managers of her suffering, the company would have naturally conducted an investigation."

However, following MBC's explanation, criticism continued, and MBC formed a fact-finding committee that began investigations with its first meeting in February. During a hearing held last month, the mother of the deceased, who appeared as a witness, tearfully appealed, "Please reveal the truth so that my daughter can rest comfortably away from all the speculation. I can’t sleep at night thinking about whether my daughter is crying somewhere or holding hatred towards someone. Please help my daughter to rest comfortably."
