Singer Lee Chan-won is showing passion for sports commentary, but there is still a discrepancy among viewers.

On the 26th of last month, at the Seoul Jamsil Baseball Stadium during the KBO League match between Doosan Bears and Lotte Giants, Lee Chan-won participated as a KBS special caster. Having previously covered broadcasts for MBC SPORTS+ and charity baseball events, he once again engaged viewers with his vibrant voice and love for baseball.

Lee Chan-won, who noted, “I have dreamed of being a sports announcer since a long time ago,” received positive feedback for his understanding of the field, accurate pronunciation, and high-energy hosting. However, some pointed out that “the entertainment-style commentary interrupts the immersion in the game.”

In particular, reactions followed indicating that his emotional expressions during key moments in baseball were excessive, and that the commentary lacked professionalism and informational delivery, leading to mixed evaluations, including whether it was a privilege due to his background as a KBS entertainment ambassador.

Amid this, Lee Chan-won is also active as a commentator in the futsal entertainment program KBS2 "Pollunteer," taking on another sports commentary challenge. In "Pollunteer," which airs every Saturday night at 10:40 p.m., he collaborates with caster Nam Hyun-jong to deliver his "over-immersion commentary".

He roared as Jeong Dae-se's shot hit the goalpost in succession, and cried out on the black card, “Pollunteer has failed!” adding excitement and humor. His reactions of joy, disappointment, and even singing celebration songs brought laughter, establishing a new viewing point in "Pollunteer."

Lee Chan-won is truly passionate about sports. However, despite repeated appearances, the balance between entertainment and professionalism remains a challenge to overcome. Could Lee Chan-won open up new possibilities for "entertainment-style sports commentary"?
