Actor Lee Jun-young brought laughter to households with his clever comic performance.
Lee Jun-young made his first appearance as the gym director Do Hyun-joong, who suddenly took over a run-down gym from a world-renowned bodybuilder, in the new KBS2 Wednesday-Thursday drama '24 Hour Health Club' (written by Kim Ji-soo, directed by Park Jun-soo and Choi Yeon-soo), which aired for the first time on the 30th of last month.
'24 Hour Health Club' is a comical romance that features the determined health enthusiast Director Do Hyun-joong radically correcting the overly worried lives of the gym's novice members.
In that day's broadcast, Hyun-joong, who was handing out flyers to passersby on the street, first encountered Mi-ran (Jeong Eun-ji), who was emotionally clinging to her boyfriend. Hyun-joong then approached the tear-streaked Mi-ran, left alone, and handed her a health club flyer while saying, "You won't regret it," which elicited laughter.
When Hyun-joong collided with Mi-ran, who had come to the gym, he almost fell and wrapped his arms around her waist, and despite the romantic pose, he whispered seriously, "162.7 cm and 62.8 kg." As Mi-ran tried to escape, saying, "I thought it was a real club," he responded, "It is a club. A hellish club for fat people," which drew bursts of laughter.
When the members screamed and rushed out after the hot water was cut off during a shower, he said, "This actually worked out. Cold showers after exercise strengthen the immune system, improve blood circulation, and boost metabolic rates," feeling quite pleased. He added, "If you generate heat through exercise, cold water won't feel that cold. If the water is cold, make sure to generate more heat in your body," displaying his true nature as a health enthusiast.
A flashback scene featuring Hyun-joong and the former gym director Han Cheol (Choi Mu-sung) was also depicted. Under Han Cheol's terrifying guidance, who shouted, "You can't become strong like that," the painful training of Hyun-joong continued, amplifying curiosity about their backstory.
Lee Jun-young is showcasing a continuous evolution of performances through various characters in Netflix series such as 'Melomovie,' 'When Life Gives You Tangerines,' and 'Weak Hero Class 2' this year, continuing his path as the top 'rising star actor.' His ability to perfectly capture a clever comic performance in '24 Hour Health Club' has once again demonstrated his limitless spectrum, raising expectations for the stories he will portray in the future.
