Actress Lee Jae-in, who has showcased a broad acting spectrum through various works, has returned with the movie 'Hi-Five' (directed by Kang Hyeong-cheol, distributed by NEW, produced by Annapurna Film).
Lee Jae-in, known for her excellent character portrayals in each work, is taking on her first action role in 'Hi-Five'. 'Hi-Five' is a comic action film that tells the story of five individuals who accidentally gain different superpowers through organ transplants and encounter those seeking their abilities.
Starting from her childhood, Lee Jae-in has gradually built her acting career and received the Best New Actress award at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards for her captivating dual-role performance in the film 'Svaha: The Sixth Finger,' after appearing in films such as 'I Can Speak' and 'Adult Rhapsody'. She has emerged as a rising star in the film industry. Following her transformations across various genres and characters in works like 'Racket Boys', 'Call', and 'It’s Now Night', Lee is now taking on the role of 'Wan-seo' in 'Hi-Five', drawing attention as she challenges herself with action acting.
The pure and assertive girl 'Wan-seo', who loves Taekwondo, miraculously receives a heart transplant after a long illness and discovers that she has acquired explosive strength and lightning-fast speed as superpowers. Spending lonely school days without friends, she forms a team called 'Hi-Five' with 'Ji-seong', 'Seon-nyeo', 'Yak-seon', and 'Gi-dong', who have also received organ transplants from the same donor and gained superpowers, showcasing cheerful teamwork.
Lee remarked, "The synchronization rate with 'Wan-seo' is the highest among the characters I have played so far," noting that she underwent an impressive 10 months of action training from pre-production to filming for the role of 'Wan-seo', the central figure of action among the 'Hi-Five' members, mastering high-level wire action and Taekwondo movements to deliver powerful action scenes.
Director Kang Hyeong-cheol praised her, stating, "She wasn't an acting genius from the start. She handled action so well that she received a lot of applause on set. You will see a different side of actress Lee Jae-in," while action director Lee Geon-moon also noted, "She was an actress who performed high-level wire action scenes without showing signs of struggle or pain, doing them repeatedly until satisfied," further elevating expectations for her refreshing 'foot' performance as she evolves from acting genius to action genius.
Lee Jae-in, equipped with strength and speed, will showcase thrilling action in 'Hi-Five', which will hit theaters on June 3, 2025.
