Broadcaster Lee Sang-min has made a surprise announcement of his remarriage after 20 years, and past comments about love and marriage are being reexamined.
On the 30th, a media outlet reported that Lee Sang-min is secretly preparing for marriage with a younger non-celebrity partner, with the wedding scheduled for early summer. It is said to be earlier than the marriage of the couple Kim Jun-ho and Kim Ji-min, who are set to wed in July.
SBS also noted to OSEN, "It's true that Mr. Lee Sang-min is remarrying a non-celebrity," and added, "You can check the related content in the 'My Little Old Boy' broadcast on May 11th."
However, regarding whether he will leave SBS 'My Little Old Boy' and 'Dol Sing Po Man,' they stated, "There have been no discussions yet about future participation in the currently aired programs."
Lee Sang-min married actress and painter Lee Hye-young in 2004, but after divorcing a year later, he remained single for a long time. Now, after about 20 years, Lee Sang-min revealed the news of his remarriage, expressing his affection for his fiancée in a handwritten letter posted on social media.
He said, "You might be surprised by this sudden news. I have found someone I love a lot. I want to move forward with her in the second act of my life," adding, "She is someone who makes me want to protect her through any hardship, and I believe I can be happy with her for the rest of my life."
He also noted, "Since this is a precious person I found later in life, I was very cautious, and that's why I delayed informing those around me. You might be surprised, but I would really appreciate it if you celebrate with me and bless me," adding, "I will live with more responsibility every moment to repay those who continue to support and encourage me."
Lee Sang-min's unexpected remarriage announcement is reigniting discussions about his previous mentions of remarriage. Lee Sang-min had shared his thoughts on marriage during the '2024 SBS Entertainment Awards.'
During a counseling session regarding the candidates for the award, Lee Sang-min said, "I want to get married. But if I marry, I will have to leave 'My Little Old Boy' and 'Dol Sing Po Man.'" He appeared to be seriously contemplating this.
In response, Lee Kyung-kyu pressed, "Since you keep mentioning marriage, it seems you have a romantic partner. Confess now," to which Lee Sang-min replied, "I never thought I'd make such a confession at an entertainment awards ceremony. Seeing Kim Min-jae and Choi Yu-ra, who just won the Best Couple Award, makes me want to do it sooner. I will confess regardless of the award."
Later, Lee Sang-min added, "Hmm.. are you listening? Let's get married this year," and then made a statement that seemed like a public proposal, asking, "Isn't there someone out there?"
Additionally, in a preview released in January for SmileTV Plus 'Matchmaker 2,' Lee Sang-min expressed his desire for remarriage, stating his ideal type as "someone whose body looks good when I buy them clothes."
He mentioned regarding the partner's height and weight that it should be "between 48 kg and 54 kg, and the height should be between 165 cm and 170 cm, since I'm 175 cm tall," while also noting, "I don't think much of appearance. I just prefer someone who is bright."
Meanwhile, regarding the partner's age, Lee Sang-min stated, "Someone who is 8 to 12 years younger than me," adding, "Anyone born in '94 is okay in a way..."
In this way, Lee Sang-min, who has cleared all of his 6.9 billion won debt and is ending a long period of being single, is now at the starting point of a new beginning with remarriage.
