As rumors about Yoo Seung-jun (Steve Yoo) spread regarding his recent activities, he directly refuted them and clarified his position.
Recently, in online and Korean communities, it was claimed that "Yoo Seung-jun grants a nighttime stage performance in Los Angeles" and updates on his current situation were shared.
The post claimed that "Yoo Seung-jun still introduces himself as 'Korea's superstar' and sings his past hit 'Na Na Na'" and that "when there are no events he goes to the health club and spends his time surfing or skateboarding with his children at places like Fairfax Huntington Beach or Malibu."
Additionally, the author remarked, "He seems stuck in the 1990s and lacks common sense. Wearing a snapback backwards and a Bart Simpson T-shirt won't make him younger. Even if he returns to Korea now, he won't be able to do anything, so I hope he just stays in America, works out, grants nighttime performances, sings 'Na Na Na', goes surfing or skateboarding, and enjoys oranges in Orange County."
Yoo Seung-jun, a Korean-American, debuted in 1997 and gained popularity with various hit songs, actively participating in the industry. However, after departing for a performance in 2002, allegations of dodging military service arose when he acquired U.S. citizenship, leading the Ministry of Justice to impose a ban on his re-entry.
As a result, Yoo Seung-jun is living in the U.S. while continuously attempting to return. He filed a cancellation lawsuit and won a final victory in the Supreme Court in November 2023, but the Los Angeles Consulate still refuses to issue a visa to him, and he has been involved in three administrative lawsuits.
Amid these circumstances, allegations of Yoo Seung-jun's "night events" surfaced, but Yoo strongly denied such claims. On the 30th, he posted on his social media, "It's all lies, 100% false from beginning to end," responding to the allegations.
He stated, "I've never worked nighttime events, never sang 'Na Na Na', never claimed to be 'Korea's superstar', never surfed in California, never skateboarded, and I did wear a T-shirt with the Simpsons, and I admit to exercising," expressing discomfort over the spread of incorrect information about him. He also mentioned, "It's heartbreaking that I need to respond to such absurd articles," emphasizing the need to correct falsehoods.
Yoo Seung-jun denied the claim that he stated he was 'Korea's superstar', saying, "There’s no need to explain who I was to those who knew me. I am still 'Yoo Seung-jun.'" He clarified his stance regarding the controversies surrounding him.
Furthermore, Yoo stated, "Stop the lies and division. This is a scary society. Someone has to die for it to end," adding, "Where exactly is that nighttime stage? If I had known it would be like this, I would have done it back then."
