Comedian Lee Soo-geun's wife Park Ji-yeon expressed her heartfelt feelings along with clarification on her husband's remarks about their son's study abroad.
On the 30th, Park Ji-yeon posted a message and photo on her social media story, saying, "How can his English improve in just three months? Maybe my husband was joking, but I hope the efforts of those caring for our son do not seem wasted."
The photo included a screenshot of an article titled "Lee Soo-geun, Cerebral Palsy Son's Strong Support 'Studying Abroad for 3 Months, English Hasn't Improved.'"
Earlier, Lee Soo-geun mentioned his second son, who has disabilities in his right arm and leg due to cerebral palsy, on a variety show he is featured in, and when Seo Jang-hoon said, "He is studying abroad and is very happy, so don't worry," Lee Soo-geun humorously replied, "He contacted me saying that after three months abroad, his English hasn't improved at all. He told me to bring him back to Korea."
Regarding this, Park Ji-yeon expressed her concern that Lee Soo-geun's remarks might overshadow their son's efforts and the hard work of those helping him. As his playful comments became a hot topic, she stepped forward to clarify the meaning behind his statements and conveyed that their son is trying hard in a foreign environment. Although it was a brief clarification, the deep affection for her son and gratitude for those who assist him came through, evoking a sense of warmth.
Meanwhile, Lee Soo-geun married Park Ji-yeon, who is 12 years younger, in December 2008, and they have two sons. While pregnant with their second child, Park Ji-yeon developed kidney issues due to pregnancy complications and received a kidney transplant from her father in 2011. Following a kidney re-transplantation procedure in 2021, she continues to receive dialysis treatment. Their prematurely born second son is reported to have disabilities in his right arm and leg due to cerebral palsy.
