Director Min Jin-ki of 'New Recruit' mentioned the possibility of actress Han Ga-in's special appearance in season 4.
On the morning of the 30th, a round interview was held with director Min Jin-ki and writer Yoon Ki-young of the Genie TV original drama 'New Recruit' at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
'New Recruit,' based on the animation by writer Jang Pi-jju, is a hyper-realistic comedy that depicts the story of a 'military spoon' new recruit enlisting in a place filled with all sorts of characters from good to bad, and even strange.
In this season, celebrity soldier Jeon Gye-se (played by Kim Dong-jun) joined as a new recruit, while his visitor caught attention with a surprise appearance by Yubin, a former member of Wonder Girls.
In this regard, director Min Jin-ki noted, "I had a connection with Yubin since I directed the Wonder Girls' episode of 'SNL Korea.' The storyline is set between 2011 and 2012, when Wonder Girls performed in the military a lot. It fits historically, and since Yubin was most suitable for the role when she went to the military, I asked her, and she kindly agreed, for which I am grateful."
In particular, a photo of actress Han Ga-in, known for her striking resemblance to Kim Dong-jun's real sister Jeon Gye-se, sparked discussion when it appeared. When director Min Jin-ki was asked if there was a possibility of inviting Han Ga-in for a special appearance in the future, he directly responded, "Yes."
He expressed hope, saying, "I obtained permission to use the photo as well, and I will definitely propose (a special appearance) for her to come as Jeon Gye-se's sister in the next season. She seems to be close with actor Kim Dong-jun. I hope it will materialize."
Meanwhile, 'New Recruit' aired as a Monday-Tuesday drama on ENA and concluded with its final episode on the 29th.
