Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi revealed that his father-in-law has been indicted again for illegal activities and stated that he will sever ties with his wife's family.
On the 29th, Lee Seung-gi said through his agency Big Planet Made, “Although a fine was imposed in the retrial regarding the continuous illegal activities raised against my father-in-law, he has been indicted again due to similar illegal acts,” and added, “As someone who has been waiting for the results based on family trust, I am devastated by my father-in-law's misconduct.”
Lee Seung-gi stated, “This incident has severely damaged the trust between family members, making it difficult to restore,” and said, “After long consideration, my spouse and I wish to sever our relationship with my wife's family.”
Lee Seung-gi also apologized for claiming last year that reports regarding allegations of stock price manipulation involving his wife's family were “clearly false.” He said, “I deeply reflect on my hasty remarks without thoroughly reviewing the related matters,” and expressed, “I sincerely apologize for the pain caused to the victims due to my rash judgment.”
He added, “Moving forward, I will strive to possess a more righteous set of values and live with a sense of responsibility for a healthy society,” and stated, “I sincerely apologize once again for causing concern and disappointment with personal matters.”
Lee Seung-gi married Lee Da-in, the daughter of actress Kyeon Mi-ri, in 2023, and they have a daughter together. Imo, who remarried Kyeon Mi-ri, was indicted for inflating the stock prices of a KOSDAQ-listed company he was a director of from 2014 to 2016 and selling shares for improper profits. This case was overturned by the Supreme Court with a guilty ruling.
