Defector Hae Jin-woo shared his story of dealing with malicious comments.

On the 28th broadcast of KBS Joy's 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller,' defector Hae Jin-woo, a former North Korean broker who appeared on 'Baek Jong-won's Les Misérables,' made an appearance.

On this day, Hae Jin-woo mentioned that he defected after working as a North Korean broker. Hae Jin-woo said, "It wasn’t easy to settle down. When I first arrived in South Korea, I thought it would be easy to speak. I found it difficult because there are a lot of foreign terms." He continued, saying, "At first, I worked at a department store, but I got flustered because I didn’t know how to use the escalator."

Hae Jin-woo noted, "Since I had no one to advise me and had to make my own judgments, I became quite stubborn." He stated, "Until now, I’ve been pushing through without any guidance. Then I met a cook from Pyongyang and got married. My wife was also a defector. We opened a North Korean restaurant together."

Hae Jin-woo discussed how he was branded a villain after appearing on 'Baek Jong-won's Les Misérables.' He mentioned, "When I first met the team to make food, there was a conflict of opinions." He explained, "Since I run a restaurant and have some experience, I tend to voice my opinions actively, but because I’m from Hamgyong Province, my way of speaking led people to think that I was arguing, even when I said I wasn’t."

Hae Jin-woo said, "I suggested that we should focus on making food and creating stories, but Baek Jong-won emphasized that the most important thing is the story. The team members wanted to create the story first, but that didn’t align with my perspective. We had a conflict of opinions because our ingredients weren't set yet."

Hae Jin-woo mentioned, "During the barbecue mission, I suggested that we start the fire first. The chef told me to place the charcoal on top. If you remove the charcoal, you have to stack the wood, but since there was no time, I ended up clashing with the chef. The important thing is that I wasn’t able to start the fire."

As a result, Hae Jin-woo stated, "I became a stubborn person who couldn’t communicate and was labeled a villain. Those who haven’t experienced it are giving me bad ratings." He reflected, "I didn’t commit any crime and simply wanted to be number one by doing things my way. I wonder if that’s really a problem."
