The first Korean animation 'Necessary for This Star,' featuring the voices of actors Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung, is set to unveil.

On the 29th, Netflix announced that it will release the first Korean animated film 'Necessary for This Star' (directed by Han Ji-won) on May 30.

'Necessary for This Star' depicts a romance between astronaut Nanyoung, who dreams of Mars exploration in 2050 Seoul, and Jay, who has put aside his dream of becoming a musician. It is the work of director Han Ji-won, who rose to prominence in the Korean animation scene as a pioneer after winning the 'Grand Award' at the Seoul Indie Animation Festival with his debut work 'Gopiruwak,' and receiving invitations to prestigious film festivals such as Sundance and Palm Springs International Film Festival. In particular, anticipation is building for the voice acting of Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung.

The released teaser poster captures the romantic moment between Nanyoung and Jay, harmonizing with the dreamy pink sunset. The sight of the two people gazing affectionately at each other evokes a warm thrill for viewers and heightens expectations for the emotional romance that has crossed 225 million kilometers. Under a sky sprinkled with sparkling stars, the familiar yet unfamiliar scenery of 2050 Seoul stimulates the imagination, while the analog props such as turntables and LPs enhance the emotional mood, raising curiosity about what 'Necessary for This Star's' unique retro cyberpunk style will look like. Additionally, the tagline, 'Don't forget, somewhere in the universe, there is always someone cheering for you,' evokes poignant emotions and foreshadows a heartfelt love story of those who pursue both dreams and love earnestly.

The teaser trailer released alongside it begins with Nanyoung and Jay's first meeting, accompanied by a sensual original soundtrack, drawing attention. Nanyoung, who goes to repair the turntable, a memento from her mother, fatefully collides with Jay, who works at an audio equipment repair shop, and the two gradually start to seep into each other's lives. Director Bong Joon-ho's recommendation, describing it as 'delicate visual completeness that embraces the universe and everyday life,' heightens expectations for Han Ji-won's exquisite and dreamy artistic style and worldview.

In Han Ji-won's emotive style, scenes of Nanyoung and Jay enjoying moments together beautifully capture various places around Seoul in 2050, conveying the excitement of budding lovers and drawing smiles. Meanwhile, the tagline, 'In 2050, the most earnest support between Mars and Earth,' along with the image of Nanyoung departing for Mars and Jay missing her, sparks curiosity about what will unfold between them, increasing anticipation for the heartfelt empathy and profound resonance that their story, moving toward dreams and love together, will deliver. Additionally, Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung, who have built a solid filmography through various works, lend their voices to Nanyoung and Jay, promising an emotional romance complete with their unique charms.
