Actor Yoon Hyun-bin had a reason for his two-year hiatus. He was caring for his father, who was given a terminal diagnosis.
On the broadcast of the SBS variety show "My Ugly Duckling" on the 27th, Yoon Hyun-bin revealed his family history. Yoon Hyun-bin frankly shared that "my parents divorced when I was young, and my father remarried." Although Yoon Hyun-bin grew up with his biological mother, he maintained a warm relationship with his stepmother, who came after his father's remarriage.
During the broadcast, Yoon Hyun-bin recalled his last moments with his father, who passed away three years ago. He said, "I built a house to spend the last moments with my father, who was given a terminal diagnosis, but suddenly he suffered from lower body paralysis, making the house with stairs meaningless."
As his father's condition worsened, Yoon Hyun-bin suspended his broadcasting activities entirely to focus on caregiving. Yoon's stepmother, who watched this happen, noted, "I am grateful for you taking care of your father all night. He must have known everything before he left," with tears in her eyes.
Yoon Hyun-bin said, "My father asked, 'Why aren't you working, have you failed?' I thought that my appearance on TV might make my father healthier. So I asked my agency, 'Is there any way I can get back to broadcasting quickly?'" Ultimately, he participated in a baseball-themed variety show for his father, who was in the hospital.
However, his father could not see that broadcast. Yoon Hyun-bin said, "I could have filmed and aired it, but my father passed away before the first broadcast."
Yoon Hyun-bin also shared a tearful moment during that broadcast, saying to his father, who was bedridden, "You've raised a good son, so I hope you recover quickly and see my face for a longer time."
After a long two-year hiatus, Yoon Hyun-bin has recently resumed his broadcasting activities.
