"The Old Woman with the Knife" Lee Hye-young laughed about the possibility of a romantic work with Choi Min-sik, saying, "Isn't a horror movie more fitting?"

On the afternoon of the 28th, an interview with Lee Hye-young, the lead actress of the film "The Old Woman with the Knife," was held at a cafe located in Sokgyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

"The Old Woman with the Knife" (directed by Min Gyu-dong, produced by Supfilm, distributed by NEW) is an action drama that depicts a fierce confrontation between Jox, a legendary killer (played by Lee Hye-young) who has worked for over 40 years in an organization that handles cockroach-like humans, and Tuwu (played by Kim Sung-cheol), a mysterious killer who has pursued him for life. This is the return work of director Min Gyu-dong after four years, who has crossed various genres with films such as "Her Story," "All About My Wife," and "Whispering Corridors 2." It attracted global attention by making its premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, and it caught the eye with news of being officially invited to the Brussels Fantastic Film Festival and Beijing International Film Festival.

Lee Hye-young plays the legendary killer Jox, Kim Sung-cheol plays the mysterious new killer Tuwu, Shin Si A plays Jox's childhood friend, Kim Mu-yeol plays Jox's mentor Ryu, Yeon Woo-jin plays the head of a veterinary clinic that connects with Jox, Kim Gang-woo plays Han, the head of a holy disease prevention unit who "catches bugs and saves the sick," and Ok Ja-yeon plays Cho Yeob, an employee of the holy disease prevention unit.

Debuting in the musical "The Sound of Music" in 1981, Lee Hye-young has been recognized as one of the legendary actresses, working as an actress for over 44 years. In a Korean film industry with few works featuring female narratives, the upcoming "The Old Woman with the Knife" focuses on a female killer in her 60s, garnering attention.

Earlier, Choi Min-sik noted in an MBC interview "Questions from Son Seok-hee" that aired last August, "I want to try a romantic film for middle-aged people. I was deeply moved after watching the film 'You're Always on My Mind,' which featured aging actors. While shooting 'Casino,' I talked about this, and I want to work with my fellow actor Lee Hye-young," adding, "We are peer actors who worked together in the play 'Hamlet,' and it was nice and joyful to meet her again on set. Even though we're the same age, I personally highly respect her as an actor."

Choi Min-sik also added regarding Lee Hye-young's reaction, "She told me to lose weight if I want to do the romantic film," bringing laughter.

On that day, Lee Hye-young replied, "I like having some meat on my bones. I'm not very familiar with the romantic genre. We joked that a harsh film where we hate each other like in 'The Shining' would be more fun. I’m not used to romantic stories."

When asked, "Are you not pleased about having Choi Min-sik as your romantic counterpart?" Lee Hye-young said, "That's not the case. Actor Min-sik is not an easy actor. I've worked with him once in a play, and I felt during 'Casino' that my acting didn't come out comfortably. I don't know if it's because I'm overwhelmed by him, but he has a certain power that makes me think, 'Why is my acting like this?' I felt unsatisfied," she recalled.

Meanwhile, "The Old Woman with the Knife" will be released on the 30th.
