The group BOYNEXTDOOR has been appointed as the global ambassador for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship. This is the first time a K-pop artist has been selected for a tournament organized by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
The Volleyball Men's World Championship has a long tradition and prestige, having started in 1949. This year's tournament will be held from Sept. 12 in Manila, Philippines, and the South Korean men's volleyball national team is also set to advance to the main event for the first time in 11 years, generating high expectations.
In the K-pop scene, BOYNEXTDOOR (Seongho, Ryu, Myungjaehyun, Taesan, Leehan, Unhak), known as 'the hottest team these days,' will lend their support. The International Volleyball Federation visited HYBE's headquarters in Yongsan, Seoul, on the 26th to appoint them as global ambassadors for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship. Accordingly, BOYNEXTDOOR will engage in pre-tournament promotional activities and attend the opening ceremony to perform at the finale stage.
BOYNEXTDOOR stated, "We are excited and feel a great sense of responsibility to be global ambassadors in this meaningful year in which the South Korean national team will compete." They added, "We will do our best to ensure that many people feel the excitement and charm of volleyball. We will support that this tournament is conducted successfully along with all the fans who love volleyball."
The International Volleyball Federation noted, "BOYNEXTDOOR will play a pivotal role as a global ambassador for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in promoting sportsmanship, unity, and a spirit of competition." It added, "BOYNEXTDOOR's global influence will be instrumental in arousing greater interest in volleyball, facilitating cultural exchange, and achieving the tournament's goal of bringing countries together through volleyball."
At the commissioning ceremony, Ramon Sujara, the Senior Vice President of the International Volleyball Federation, introduced himself by saying, "I watched BOYNEXTDOOR's concert in Manila, Philippines, last March," and explained, "We determined that their unique charm, dynamism, and influence make them perfectly suited as global ambassadors for the tournament."
Kim Tae-ho, Chief Operating Officer of HYBE, remarked, "K-pop and sports share core values. There is a common denominator of fervent support and fandom for someone who puts forth their best effort." He stated, "In that sense, we are very much looking forward to the synergy of BOYNEXTDOOR and the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship."
