Nam Taehyun has officially announced his return to the stage.
Nam Taehyun will perform at the "K-Pop Week in Hongdae" on May 6 at the West Bridge Live Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
"K-Pop Week in Hongdae" is a music festival taking place from May 1 to 11 at various small theaters near Hongdae, including K-Pop Stage, Sang Sang Madang, Musinsa Garage, and H Stage. It aims for close interaction between fans and artists under the slogan "Closer, More Sincerely."
Nam Taehyun plans to have an event to communicate with fans during this "K-Pop Week in Hongdae." He intends to reflect on his past and deliver messages of regret, longing, and recovery through music, promising to lead a better life.
However, attention is focused on this being Nam Taehyun's first official stage after the drug controversy. He was indicted for allegedly using methamphetamine with Seo Min-jae at their home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in August 2022, and for separately using methamphetamine alone overseas in December of the same year. Following this, the court sentenced Nam Taehyun to one year in prison, with a two-year probation.
Afterwards, Nam Taehyun confessed to his financial difficulties through broadcasting while emphasizing his determination to stay sober and provided updates on his album preparations. He said in March last year, "I made a big mistake, but I am sincerely reflecting and spending each day. I finished my rehabilitation and found a space in the same building to continue to strengthen my determination to stay sober."
After quietly returning to the music scene in January with the new song "At the End of the Night," Nam Taehyun is set to perform on May 6 and release his new song "RAIN" on May 9.
Ahead of his full return, Nam Taehyun shared his thoughts through social media recently. He emphasized, "Many things have happened, but as an artist who loves music and as someone who has matured a bit, I plan to return to my place. Thanks to the love and support of precious people, I was able to find the courage to sing again. I won’t forget that feeling and will prepare diligently to show the audience my sincere self and a wonderful performance as a singer."
