On the broadcast of tvN's entertainment show "You Quiz on the Block" on the 23rd, Choi Tae-hoon remembered his father.
That day, in the segment "It Was a Scam," Choi Tae-hoon, who plays the villain in the drama, portrayed both the young Baek Sang-gil and the middle-aged version.
In a bicycle scene, he mentioned that the outfit his late father wore in life was similar. It was a scene that brought tears to his sisters living in the United States.
Choi Tae-hoon said, "(In me) I saw a glimpse of my father, and it gave me strength to perform." He also noted, "I feel sorry that I couldn't react to my father when he was alive." In response, Yoo Jae-suk empathized, saying, "There are times when my father, whom I couldn't understand in life, comes to mind."
Choi Tae-hoon, who has substantial experience in the theater industry, endured 18 years of a nameless life. He said, "I told my father to wait for just 12 years, assuring him that I would buy him a car if I succeeded, but I couldn't fulfill that promise," becoming emotional. "I really wanted to buy it for him, but he passed away too soon."
When asked about the person he thinks of the most, he immediately thought of "Father." Choi Tae-hoon expressed deep regret, saying, "I feel burdened that I couldn't show my father this moment." It turned out his father collapsed due to a cerebral infarction and hemorrhage. Choi Tae-hoon vividly recalled the situation, stating, "He collapsed while sleeping. I covered him with a blanket while he was sleeping on the floor, but the next day, my father was mumbling. He had already missed the golden time," and reflected on the guilt he felt at that time.
Regarding his father, who battled illness for 11 years, Choi Tae-hoon recalled, "I took care of my father from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.," adding, "I was clumsy in handling my father's needs." He reflected, "One day, I drank beer in front of the hospital while wearing gloves, thinking if this is how life is... I had some bad thoughts."
Choi Tae-hoon recalled, "I couldn't even see him off in a decent coffin, and I cried so much at the humble path my father took."
