"The Old Woman with the Knife" Lee Hye Young revealed her impressions of acting in action scenes with Kim Sung Cheol.
On the afternoon of 24th, a press screening for the movie "The Old Woman with the Knife" was held at CGV Yongsan Ipark Mall in Seoul. Attending this event were director Min Kyu Dong, lead actors Lee Hye Young, Kim Sung Cheol, Yeon Woo Jin, and Shin Si A.
"The Old Woman with the Knife" is an action drama depicting the intense confrontation between a legendary killer, Jo Gak (played by Lee Hye Young), who has been active for more than 40 years in an organization that deals with cockroach-like humans, and a mysterious killer, Tu Woo (played by Kim Sung Cheol), who has pursued him his entire life. It marks the return to directing for Min Kyu Dong after four years, who has worked in various genres including "Herstory," "Everything About My Wife," and "Whispering Corridors: The Second Tale." Previously, it garnered global attention through its world premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival and has been officially invited to the Brussels Fantastic Film Festival and Beijing International Film Festival.
Lee Hye Young played the legendary killer Jo Gak, Kim Sung Cheol portrayed the mysterious new killer Tu Woo, Yeon Woo Jin took on the role of an animal hospital director who connects with Jo Gak, and Shin Si A played Jo Gak's childhood nail.
Kim Sung Cheol said, "From the moment I first saw the script, the buildup of Jo Gak and Tu Woo was the most important, and I felt that this energy needed to be condensed and burst out. During the actual filming, the teacher arrived at the location first, and after the battle ended, we filmed for about a week. We shot the final scene from sunrise to sunset. It was my first action scene with the teacher. Matching with the teacher was also important, and although we didn't show everything in the film, we designed and shot more action scenes. However, among those, the director chose some good ones, which I think made it more dynamic."
Lee Hye Young noted, "As I was about to start the action, I suffered a lot of injuries, and Sung Cheol had a hard time. When we practiced with the stunt, I was bold and daring, wanting to show everything, but when I actually collided with him, the strength was different. I think Sung Cheol must have felt disappointed," adding, "On screen, I appear to be a much more capable woman than in my real ability."
Meanwhile, "The Old Woman with the Knife" will be released on the 30th.
