Actress Yoon Yeo-jung revealed her eldest son's coming out, while broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon said, "It feels a bit like my struggle, which has been lonely for 25 years, is being somewhat comforted."

On the 22nd, Hong Seok-cheon noted in a conversation with Ohmynews that "what is most important for sexual minorities is the understanding of family." He said, "It was very moving that Yoon Yeo-jung publicly shared a family story that could be personal, and I hope our country reaches a world where children who are sexual minorities can live happily."

Hong Seok-cheon has said he has liked and respected Yoon Yeo-jung for a long time. He shared, "I had several chances to meet her because of broadcast work, and she found me very lovely, saying, 'It's good to see you living well,' and I simply replied, 'Thank you.'"

On the 18th, Yoon Yeo-jung revealed in an interview with U.S. media that her eldest son is gay and has gotten married. The time when Yoon Yeo-jung's eldest son disclosed to the family that he was gay was in 2000, coinciding with when Hong Seok-cheon came out.

Yoon Yeo-jung jokingly said, "I still don't know how my hometown people will react, but I love my son-in-law more than my son now." This interview was conducted as part of the promotion for the film "The Wedding Banquet," in which Yoon Yeo-jung appeared. The Wedding Banquet deals with the commotion that arises when a gay protagonist, unable to resist the family atmosphere pushing for marriage, plans a fake wedding.
