Disney+'s original series 'Nine Puzzle' (directed by Yoon Jong-bin) has unveiled a character still of Son Suk-ku as Kim HANSSEM, a detective in the Gangnam Police Department's violent crime unit who pursues the culprit relentlessly.
Ten years ago, the only witness to an unsolved case and a current profiler, 'Ina' (Kim Da-mi), and the violent crimes team detective 'HANSSEM' (Son Suk-ku), who continues to suspect him, have unveiled a character still of Son Suk-ku as Kim HANSSEM in the mystery thriller 'Nine Puzzle,' which digs into the secrets of the re-emerging serial murder case alongside mysterious puzzle pieces.
From Disney+'s original series 'Casino' to the movie 'Criminal City 2,' and the recently popular drama 'Heavenly Ever After,' Son Suk-ku, who has established himself as a prominent actor by showcasing diverse performances across genres, plays Kim HANSSEM, a detective in the Gangnam Police Department's violent crime unit pursuing the murderer from a decade ago. Tasked with the first case of the murder of Superintendent Yoon Dong-hoon, he is convinced that Ina, the victim's niece and the initial discoverer, is the suspect and persistently chases evidence for ten years. As a perfectionist elite and a mystery novel enthusiast, HANSSEM, who is methodically meticulous in case investigations, is poised to showcase an intriguing relationship that oscillates between suspicion and cooperation with Ina, who joins him as a detective and profiler in solving the re-emerging serial murder case.
The unveiled character still highlights HANSSEM's unusual charm, characterized by a consistent coat and beanie styling, as he is known in the police station for his fearless actions regardless of the risks while pursuing investigations. Notably, his sharp gaze, which seems to penetrate the case, exudes the charisma of a detective and reflects his relentless desire to uncover the truth hidden from that day.
Son Suk-ku noted, 'I was a huge fan of Director Yoon Jong-bin, so I felt very honored to receive the casting offer,' sharing his meaningful thoughts on participating. He also mentioned, 'In the process from suspicion to cooperation, there can be subtle changes, and at one point, suspicion might arise again. We discussed the nuances beyond what's in the lines and dialogue a lot,' raising expectations for the unique chemistry he will present with Kim Da-mi. Director Yoon Jong-bin remarked, 'HANSSEM is a very bold and sharp character. I pondered over which actors would be worthy of such a character. I felt that Son Suk-ku's unique atmosphere would fit well,' amplifying curiosity about the distinctive character completed by Son Suk-ku's irreplaceable charm.
'Nine Puzzle' will release six episodes on May 21 (Wed), three episodes on May 28 (Wed), and two episodes on June 4 (Wed) on Disney+, totaling 11 episodes.
