Girls' Generation member Taeyeon shared a statement from a global fan alliance urging compensation for the concert cancellation.
On the 24th, Taeyeon posted on her personal social media the feedback and compensation demand statement released by her global fan alliance regarding the cancellation of her concert 'The TENSE' in Tokyo.
In the statement, Taeyeon's global fan alliance criticized her agency, SM Entertainment, for the unilateral cancellation of Taeyeon's tour 'The TENSE' Japanese performance and related fan damage, while demanding feedback.
They first demanded feedback regarding the unilateral and careless cancellation notice given two days before the performance, stating that the notification method was dismissive and did not recognize the severity of the situation, and criticized SM Entertainment's lack of response and avoidance of responsibility after the incident.
In response, the Taeyeon global fan alliance demanded five specific actions: 'Identify the exact responsibility for this incident and implement appropriate sanctions against SM Entertainment 1 Center and related personnel', 'Issue an official apology and statement regarding this incident through artist Taeyeon's official channel', 'Prepare a tangible compensation plan for the damage inflicted on fans due to the Japanese concert cancellation and publicly disclose the specific details transparently', 'Ensure transparent operations based on accountability and provide clear notifications to prevent similar incidents from happening in the upcoming 'The TENSE' tour schedule', and 'Clearly communicate SM Entertainment's direct announcement regarding the new schedule for 'The TENSE JAPAN' performance and future hosting plans, and promptly guide that information.'
Additionally, Taeyeon's global fan alliance stated, 'We strongly caution against the situation where blame for this incident is distorted and shifted onto the artist, as we want to protect the artist from bearing the burden of directly communicating with fans.'
On the 17th, SM Entertainment announced the cancellation of Taeyeon's solo concert 'The TENSE' scheduled for the 19th and 20th at the Tokyo Ariake Arena through Taeyeon's official Japanese website. In this regard, SM Entertainment explained, 'The equipment used for the Asia tour is currently being transported to Japan, but has not yet arrived in Japan at this time, and it is extremely difficult to make sufficient preparations for the concert,' and stated that detailed information regarding substitute performances and future responses would be announced later.
In relation to this, Taeyeon expressed her regret on the 18th through a fan communication platform, stating, 'When I heard the news about the cancellation of the Japan concert, I was worried about my fans (fandom name) and felt really bad. I don't know what to say. I hate this situation, and I feel sorry for my fans. My concert, created with everyone's efforts and expectations, feels stolen and fleeting in an instant, and I don't know how to express this sense of emptiness and disappointment.'
Following the global fans' statement, it appears that Taeyeon empathized with the feelings of local fans in Japan who expressed their disappointment over the concert cancellation by directly sharing it.
