Girl group Girls' Generation member Taeyeon shared a statement from a global fan alliance urging compensation for the concert cancellation.
On the 24th, Taeyeon posted on her personal social media a statement from her global fan alliance that was made public, calling for feedback and compensation regarding the cancellation of Taeyeon's concert "The TENSE" in Tokyo.
In the statement, Taeyeon's global fan alliance criticized SM Entertainment, her agency, and demanded feedback concerning the unilateral cancellation of Taeyeon's tour "The TENSE" Japan performances and the resulting damages to fans.
They first requested feedback on the unilateral and careless cancellation notice given two days prior to the performance, noting that the manner of the announcement showed a lack of effort and recognition of the seriousness of the situation, and criticized SM Entertainment for its lack of response and evasion of responsibility after the incident.
In response, the Taeyeon global fan alliance demanded a total of five specific actions. They called for 'the accurate identification of responsibility regarding this incident and the implementation of appropriate disciplinary action against SM Entertainment's 1st Center and relevant officials', 'the issuance of an official apology and statement regarding this incident through artist Taeyeon's official channels', 'the preparation of a substantial compensation plan for the damages incurred by fans due to the cancellation of the Japan performance, and transparency in publicly disclosing the specific content', 'ensuring transparent operations based on Shinori and clear notices to prevent similar incidents from recurring in the future scheduled "The TENSE" tour', and 'a direct announcement from SM Entertainment regarding the new schedule for "The TENSE JAPAN" performance and a clear position on future hosting plans, with prompt guidance in that regard.'
Furthermore, Taeyeon's global fan alliance noted, 'We strongly caution against any situation where the blame may be misattributed to the artist regarding this incident, as we aim to protect the artist from having the burden of directly communicating with fans.'
On the 17th, SM Entertainment announced through Taeyeon's official website in Japan the cancellation of her solo concert "The TENSE" Asia tour scheduled to take place on the 19th and 20th at Tokyo Ariake Arena. In relation to this, SM Entertainment explained that 'the equipment used for the Asia tour is in transit to Japan, but has yet to arrive in Japan at this time, making it very difficult to prepare adequately for the performance', and stated that they would provide detailed notices regarding alternative performances and future responses.
In connection with this, on the 18th, Taeyeon expressed her distress on a fan communication platform, saying, 'When I heard the news about the cancellation of the Japan performance, I was very worried about my fans (fandom name) and felt very bad. I dislike this situation so much and I feel sorry for my fans. The performance that was created by everyone's efforts and expectations has been taken away in an instant, and I don't know how to express this feeling of emptiness and loss.'
Following the global fans’ statement, it is interpreted that Taeyeon directly shared it, resonating with the sentiments of local fans in Japan who were disappointed by the concert cancellation.
