In 'Dad and I,' Lee Geon-joo reunited with his mother, whom he had been separated from at the age of 2, resolving misunderstandings through an emotional reunion.

Lee Geon-joo reunited with his mother for the first time in 44 years during the broadcast of TV Chosun's 'Dad and I' on the 22nd.

Earlier, regarding his mother, he said, "I left at 2 years old; I don't know my mother's name or face," and added, "I have no memories of my mother." As Lee Geon-joo worked up the courage to find his mother, he was depicted heading to meet her. Finally, he arrived in front of his mother's house. However, as he lingered outside, he expressed his tension, saying, "I feel like I can't go in," showing that he found it hard to take a step forward.

In the end, Lee Geon-joo could not enter his mother's house. He had no choice but to ask the production team for a separate place to sit. Lee Geon-joo said, "Even though I came to (my mother's house), I found it hard to go in and hesitated, and I felt sorry for myself." He further noted, "Everything felt scary and confusing."

Amid tension and worry, Lee Geon-joo dramatically reunited with his mother after 44 years. His mother appeared in tears, saying, "Geon-joo, it's mom," and they embraced for the first time, expressing, "I missed you." With tears in her eyes, Lee Geon-joo also said, "Ah, this person is my mom," and shed the tears he had held back.

His mother first checked on his meals and health and shared ordinary greetings, showing tears at the most trivial but longed-for greetings. She said, "It feels like my heart is being torn; I can think that you abandoned me, but in fact, that’s not true," crying, "How much did I resent my mother?"

Lee Geon-joo expressed, "I was curious," saying, "I wondered what kind of person she would be and if I would resemble her... since I knew nothing at all." He added that he couldn't enter the house, noting, "I didn’t know what to say or how to start." Lee Geon-joo mentioned, "Tears came from mixed feelings," and his mother recalled, "I wanted to take Geon-joo with me, but my ex-husband, who was the only son, said it was absolutely impossible to take him out," conveying her desire to clear up misunderstandings that had built up over time.

As the conversation flowed naturally, Lee Geon-joo confessed, "I said 'mom' for the first time," revealing his repressed feelings. He added, "Having taken a step forward now, I’m curious and looking forward to our next meeting," and expressed, "Thank you for waiting for 44 years." He also mentioned, "Seeing my mom made me feel at ease; our son is cute," smiling, and stated, "I never dreamed we would meet like this," while Lee Geon-joo noted, "Now that we’ve met, it’s enough; the past 44 years of tension has been released," saying they would get even closer.
