Actor Park Jung-min donated the first novel from his publishing company to the Korea Disability Foundation.
On the 23rd, according to the Korea Disability Foundation, actor Park Jung-min donated the listening novel "First Summer, Wanju" (by Kim Geum-hee), produced by his publishing company Mujae, to the foundation, in commemoration of World Book Day (April 23). The donated audiobook will be delivered to about 40 disability libraries across the country through the Korea Disability Foundation.
The listening novel "First Summer, Wanju" was produced in reverse of the general publishing process, showcasing a new attempt. Until now, visually impaired individuals had to wait for the publication of physical books and then go through secondary production to obtain audiobooks or Braille content. However, this edition has been first produced as an audiobook accessible to visually impaired individuals and will subsequently be published as an e-book and a printed book.
Park Jung-min noted, "'First Summer, Wanju' is the first outcome of the listening novel project, designed to be presented first to visually impaired individuals," and added, "I will continue the 'listening novel' project to improve access to books for visually impaired individuals."
"First Summer, Wanju" tells the story of the protagonist Yeolmae visiting the hometown of her close sister, Wanju, where she meets various characters and experiences change.
Meanwhile, the publishing company "Mujae," operated by Park Jung-min, is dedicated to the motto of carefully observing the small world. This February, the company continued its charitable activities, including donating the revenue from the sale of goods for the production of audiobooks for visually impaired individuals in collaboration with the online store "Eolungttungttang Shop."
