The release of Disney+'s upcoming production "Knock-Off" has been indefinitely suspended, along with filming.
According to a media outlet on the 23rd, the team behind "Knock-Off" recently notified the cast and staff of the indefinite temporary suspension of filming.
However, on that day, a Disney+ representative maintained the position of "holding off on the release" regarding "Knock-Off" through OSEN. They did not provide any additional comments about the filming suspension, stating, "Nothing has changed besides the existing official position."
"Knock-Off" depicts the story of a man whose life changes completely due to the IMF economic crisis, rising from an ordinary office worker to the king of the global counterfeit market. Initially, the work was expected to dramatically showcase Kim Soo-hyun as the male protagonist overcoming the IMF to grow into the 'King of Knock-offs.' Similar to Disney+'s well-made series "Casino," "Knock-Off" was also set to be produced in two seasons, with the first release scheduled for this month.
However, last month, the personal life controversy surrounding Kim Soo-hyun, which heated online discussions, spilled over to "Knock-Off." Criticism towards "Knock-Off," starring Kim Soo-hyun, emerged after allegations of a past relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron surfaced during their minor years.
Ultimately, the filming of "Knock-Off," which was in its final stages, has been suspended, and Disney+ officially stated, "The release schedule for 'Knock-Off' is fully on hold."
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun's agency Goldmedalist noted on the 15th, "Malicious posts and comments targeting Kim Soo-hyun, as well as false information, are being indiscriminately posted and spread online," and added, "As the identity of the cyberbully is being revealed and legal actions are being taken, we will also respond strongly with our overseas legal representatives against overseas platforms such as YouTube and X (formerly Twitter)," declaring a war against the malicious commenters.
