Choo Sung Hoon, a mixed martial artist, and model Yano Shiho's daughter, Choo Sa-rang, expressed her affectionate feelings and longing for her grandfather.

Choo Sung Hoon's father, Yano Shiho's father-in-law, and Choo Sa-rang's grandfather, Choo Gye-hee, passed away from a heart attack on April 18, 2023. He was 73 years old.

Choo Sung Hoon's side stated, "Choo Sung Hoon's father Choo Gye-hee passed away today at the age of 73. As soon as Choo Sung Hoon received the news in Korea, he returned to Japan," and added, "The funeral will be held quietly with family and relatives, and we extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to Choo Sung Hoon and the family."

Choo Sung Hoon appeared on entertainment programs such as "Returning Superman" and "Father and Me" with his father. Choo Sung Hoon noted that his father's influence played a significant role in his background as a judoka, and he expressed respect for the strength and influence of his family, particularly in living as a Korean resident in Japan. Choo Gye-hee garnered attention as a strict father to Choo Sung Hoon and a gentle grandfather to Choo Sa-rang.

Given Choo Sung Hoon's special feelings and memories of his father, the loss of his father was a significant shock. Especially since his father was known to have no chronic illnesses, the unexpected separation was even more devastating. Following his father's passing, Choo Sung Hoon conveyed his feelings through a message stating, "I still wanted to share so much more with you, and there were so many things you needed to teach me. We’ve never even drank together. There are so many things I want to do together. Now that things are slowly getting better, I wanted to go out with you and eat a lot of delicious food," and he promised, "If the time comes when I have to make an important choice in life as you taught me, I will choose the hard path! That is the way to succeed! I will engrave that message in my heart and live diligently. When we meet again, I want to play golf, which you liked, and drink together."

Yano Shiho also noted, "Life is unpredictable; you never know what will happen, so it’s important to listen carefully to people's stories, think, and act in the present moment. My father-in-law taught me the importance of acting immediately if you think or want to do something. I will never forget the kindness with which he always wrapped me warmly. I want to carry the memories of the time we spent together in my heart and live while moving forward," expressing her affectionate feelings towards her father-in-law.

The death of Choo Gye-hee, which was a significant shock for Choo Sung Hoon and Yano Shiho, seemed to have an even greater impact on his granddaughter, Choo Sa-rang. As this was Choo Sa-rang's first experience of 'separation due to a person's death' since her birth, it appeared to leave a trauma.

On the 22nd, Yano Shiho observed a photoshoot of Choo Sa-rang wearing a judo uniform with the names of Choo Sung Hoon and Choo Gye-hee engraved on it. She remarked, "In fact, after my father-in-law passed away, suddenly I would start crying a few months later when thoughts of him came to me, and this has continued almost for two years," adding, "This initial experience of 'death' has left a significant trauma in Sa-rang, and I have been concerned about how she can overcome it whenever she starts to cry." She continued, "Recently, the crying has stopped, and I felt that she might have overcome something within herself as I saw this photo. I am sincerely grateful for this opportunity."

Choo Sa-rang conveyed her longing for her grandfather through her ongoing participation in ENA's "My Kid's Private Life." She said, "Grandpa is kind and always thinks of me," tearing up, and added, "I miss Grandpa. I want to travel together again."
