"Killer's Shopping Mall" returns for season 2.
On the 21st, Disney+ confirmed the production of the original series "Killer's Shopping Mall Season 2" (written by Ji Ho-jin and Lee Kwon, directed by Lee Kwon) and announced its release in 2026, along with the casting lineup.
"Killer's Shopping Mall" was described at the time of its release as "not a single minute is boring" (NME), "a tense and thrilling K-drama. It shines through Lee Dong-wook and Kim Hye-jun" (Outlook India), "a stylish action series filled with wonderful characters, music, and captivating camera work" (South China Morning Post), as well as domestic media stating that it was successful in capturing viewers with "narrative completeness, breathtaking tension, and thrilling directorial skills" (MBC Entertainment), referring to it as the Korean version of "John Wick" featuring the collection of mystery, twists, thrills, and action that captivates all five senses (Eyes), and it's praised for the compelling strength of the story and the intelligent direction that keeps the audience's attention" (Yonhap). This has led to ongoing anticipation for season 2, with the spotlight expected to be even more focused.
First, the appearance of the actors from season 1 is sure to elicit cheers from fans. Lee Dong-wook, who maximized the mystery throughout the drama and showcased remarkable action, returns as the suspicious uncle and former mercenary Jin-man, who created "Murderhelp," demonstrating the deep emotional spectrum of the character's spectacular growth. Kim Hye-jun, beloved for her unique chemistry with Lee Dong-wook as the uncle and nephew duo, returns as Jian. They will be joined by Jo Han-sun, who overwhelmed everyone as the tremendous villain and mercenary Vail from "Babylon"; Geum Hae-na, who provided explosive action catharsis as Min-hye; Lee Tae-young as Brother, the assistant and strong support from "Murderhelp"; and Kim Min as Phasin, the Muay Thai instructor who is a colleague of Jin-man and cares for Jian. The lineup of new actors joining season 2 has also been announced. Hyeon-ri, a Zainichi Korean actor who won the Best New Actress award at the 29th Takasaki Film Festival and gained considerable popularity in Korea through the series "Pachinko" and Ryusuke Hamaguchi's film "Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy," as well as Japanese TBS drama "I Love You," and American HBO drama "Tokyo Vice Season 2," is set to appear as "Q," the head of the mercenary team of Babylon's East Asian branch. Additionally, actor Masaki Okada, who received critical acclaim for his role as Takasaki Koji in the Academy Award-nominated film "Drive My Car," joins as Jay, co-head of the mercenary team at Babylon’s East Asian branch and Q's younger brother. Furthermore, Jeong Yoon-ha, recognized for her strong acting skills in Disney+’s original series "Casino" and films such as "Burial" and "Trunk" and "XO, Kitty," is anticipated to appear as Kusunagi, the head of Babylon's East Asian branch. Season 2 will continue an expanded conflict between "Murderhelp" and "Babylon," raising expectations for what impact these newcomers joining Babylon's mercenaries will bring.
With the confirmation of production, filming for Disney+’s original series "Killer's Shopping Mall Season 2" has commenced and is expected to be released in 2026.
