A music festival expo, the first of its kind in the country, will be held in Yeosu, famous for its 'Yeosu Night Sea.'
On the 21st, the organizers of the '1st Mega Island Music Festival' announced that the largest music festival expo in history, as well as the first in Korea, will take place in Yeosu from July 26 to August 2.
This festival is expected to reignite Yeosu's summer as a massive cultural event held at the Yeosu World Expo site, 13 years after the Yeosu World Expo, which represented Yeosu and South Korea in 2012.
'Mega Island Music Festival' is the largest in Korea and the world's first attempt at a 'music festival expo' format, featuring music content that transcends genres and participation from renowned domestic and international music festivals with existing brand recognition, garnering significant attention.
This festival will be a multifaceted cultural festival encompassing all genres of K-content, including K-pop, K-trot, K-jazz, K-band, and K-food, with over 20 teams performing on stage each day and more than 100 artists expected to participate. Audiences will experience a true 'K-culture comprehensive festival' where they can enjoy music and culture together through new stages and programs each day.
In particular, this festival is expected to become a turning point that revitalizes the stagnated Yeosu local economy and tourism industry, which are facing unprecedented economic crises due to simultaneous contractions in the export and domestic markets. The 'Mega Island Music Festival' is anticipated to serve as a crucial cultural content that leads the local economy's resurgence.
The festival organizing committee noted, 'The Yeosu Mega Island Music Festival is currently establishing various direct and indirect strategies for revitalizing the local economy and promoting tourism, and we are doing our best to maximize the regional ripple effect.' They emphasized that 'not only do we have the advantages of being the largest in the country and genre integration, but we also plan to expand our connections to famous overseas music festivals through collaboration with globally recognized brands each year.'
