Singer Chuu shared her thoughts on challenging herself to rap.
Chuu held a listening session for her third mini-album "Only Cry in the Rain" at MovieLand in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on the 21st.
Chuu's comeback is about 10 months after the release of her second mini-album "Strawberry Rush" in June of last year. During that time, Chuu consistently connected with music fans through songs such as "Second Love," "IN MY DREAM," "nrv," and "Am I a Fool?"
Chuu's third mini-album "Only Cry in the Rain" depicts a journey of moving forward while confronting the invisible concepts of "memory" and "emotion." It reflects on feelings that had been forgotten, singing about how they have shaped her present, capturing Chuu's lyrical inner world and the growth of her musical artistry.
The title track "Only Cry in the Rain" delivers comfort and courage to the youth of this era who hide their emotions, conveying that it's okay to be honest about feelings on rainy days. Chuu's unique emotional vocals blend with dreamy synth-pop sounds based on new wave, deeply capturing the album's essential emotions.
This album includes the title track "Only Cry in the Rain" as well as tracks like "Back in Town," "Kiss a Kitty," "Je t’aime," and "No More."
Among these, Chuu draws attention for her debut rap challenge in "Kiss a Kitty." Recommending the song, she said, "I wanted to deliver a clear message and happy energy. It’s the first time I've challenged myself to rap, and I wanted to do it coolly and confidently. I had a chance, and I hope the fans like it, so I wanted to recommend it."
Regarding her challenge to rap, she explained, "I found it difficult because I thought my rap voice didn't match. I lacked confidence and hesitated to participate, but this time I wanted to show a voice that I hadn’t been able to showcase until now. Half of the song is rap, and I hope you listen to it beautifully."
Meanwhile, Chuu's third mini-album "Only Cry in the Rain" will be released on the 21st at 6 p.m. through various online music sites.
