In 'My Little Old Boy,' Bae Jung-nam expressed concern for his dog Bell, who underwent surgery after about two and a half years.
On the 20th, he visited the hospital during the SBS variety show 'My Little Old Boy.'
That day, the scene of Bae Jung-nam and his dog Bell heading to the hospital was depicted. While entering the surgery room, he said, "Life has its ups and downs," showing a worried expression. Bae Jung-nam's tense face indicated that Bell was facing another crisis. It turned out that there was a noticeable lump growing on his side.
Bell has been in poor health. After two and a half years, he had to undergo surgery again. Three years ago, he was diagnosed with acute cervical disc herniation and paralysis. Thanks to Bae Jung-nam's dedicated rehabilitation training for 1 year and 7 months and his refusal to give up, Bell managed to achieve the miraculous ability to walk on his own.
However, misfortune struck again with cancer. The cancerous mass was increasing in size. Bae Jung-nam noted, "As a parent, I'm worried the surgery might go wrong; when he had major surgery before, he lost a lot of blood," and added, "I never thought he would need surgery again," expressing his anxiety. Furthermore, Bell was 12 years old. Having lived 12 years compared to the average lifespan of 8 to 10 years, it was said he was like a "senior dog in its 70s." He was on heart medication, adding to Bae Jung-nam's worries.
When Bae Jung-nam asked, "If we leave it like this, will it metastasize?" the veterinarian responded, "The tumor will start to rot," indicating that recovery would be impossible if the tumor was not removed. Under healthy conditions, the tumor could be excised, but Bell's heart condition made it 100 times riskier. This was due to the potential for sudden shock from general anesthesia. However, there was also concern about recurrence if local anesthesia was used.
After much deliberation, Bae Jung-nam chose the lower-risk local anesthesia. Nevertheless, he still felt a heavy heart, as he had to undergo another major surgery after 2 years and 7 months. The scene of Bell on the operating table was depicted next, with the surgery lasting over an hour. Fortunately, the cancerous mass was reported to have been completely removed. Only then could Bae Jung-nam breathe a sigh of relief, saying, "I hope there will be no more surgeries," expressing his feelings while meeting Bell and saying, "Let’s not have any more surgeries; let's be healthy, I love you."
The other cast members noted, "What a lucky puppy to have such a dad," feeling moved.
