'Sallimnam' ranked first in viewership for 10 consecutive weeks, showcasing its dominance in Saturday entertainment.
The episode aired on the 19th on KBS 2TV 'Sallim-haneun Namjadeul Season 2' (hereinafter 'Sallimnam') gathers the main cast, including MC Eun Ji-won, Baek Ji-young, Park Seo-jin, Ji Sang-ryeol, and Lee Min-woo, to celebrate the achievements of the program's 400th episode and a 7% viewership rating. The viewership recorded 5.7% based on Nielsen Korea's nationwide count, and a scene where Park Seo-jin's father advises Eun Ji-won not to hold back on expressing affection to parents achieved a peak viewership of 6.8%.
On that day, the special guests were singer Song Ga-in and Kim Sang-hyuk, the second protagonist of 'Memory Sallimnam.' Opening with the performance of the new song 'Asadal,' Song Ga-in reminisced about her bond with Park Seo-jin, who has been with her since her debut, mentioning their shared introverted nature. Song Ga-in admitted, "Even now, when I go on stage for a congratulatory song, I suffer from irritable bowel syndrome. I get really nervous." In response, Kim Sang-hyuk said, "I will give you my mother's shake. It makes me feel good," referencing the 'leftover shake' that became a topic of discussion in a previous broadcast, bringing laughter.
Next, a VCR containing the second story of the '1st Sallimnam Picnic' was revealed. The 'Sallimnam' members, who had finished their tour of Sacheon, split into teams to prepare dinner. Baek Ji-young, who headed to the fish market with Park Seo-jin's younger sister Hyo-jung, expressed, "One of the reasons I really wanted to come to Samcheok was the food," showing excitement for Hyo-jung's introduction to local restaurants as the 'food fairy.'
Subsequently, the official food tour of 'Sallimnam' featuring Baek Ji-young and Hyo-jung unfolded. The two enjoyed a variety of street foods, including old-style tteokbokki, fish cake skewers, and toast, and savored fresh seafood prepared on the spot. Later, Baek Ji-young stated, "(We) eat in small quantities. We eat a lot, but we don't eat much," but all the participants gathered in the studio expressed confusion. In particular, Park Seo-jin remarked, "Isn't that a call for a light eater?" giving rise to laughter.
Ji Sang-ryeol and Eun Ji-won followed Park Seo-jin's father to catch fish. The two, who were on a boat for the first time with Park Seo-jin's father, shared stories about the father's 50 years of life at sea, saying, "Seo-jin worries a lot." Park Seo-jin's father revealed, "There are times when I cry because I miss my two deceased sons. However, when I go out to sea on a boat, everything is forgotten," quietly confessing the reason he cannot leave the sea, touching hearts.
Additionally, Park Seo-jin's father advised, "Do well while your parents are alive. Once they're gone, it’s of no use," and added, "When a child says 'I love you,' it gives parents great strength." Eun Ji-won reflected on his late father and shared, "The advice to do well while they are here hit me more painfully," and he delivered a heartfelt video message to his mother, conveying emotion.
After completing their respective roles, the 'Sallimnam' family gathered to start their housewarming celebration. The 'Sallimnam' members, marveling at the dinner table filled with various seafood and dishes, engaged in a feast that stimulated viewers' appetites.
Especially since 'Sallimnam' is celebrating its 400th episode, they drew attention by revealing changes that occurred after the broadcast. Park Seo-jin mentioned the family's increase in expressions of affection and reported, "'Sallimnam' is a miracle that changed our family's life," while Lee Min-woo recalled his mother, who had been diagnosed with dementia, stating, "I was worried about whether my mom would be okay, but it's incredible how she has started to improve through 'Sallimnam.'"
Subsequently, the 'Sallimnam' members presented a special gift for Park Seo-jin's family. The gift they secretly prepared was a family photo digitally combined with images of Park Seo-jin's two late brothers. The Park Seo-jin family was moved to tears when they saw the photo, and Park Seo-jin expressed, "I felt happy and grateful to see my brothers, even if only in the photo," evoking emotion. The '1st Sallimnam Picnic' and Park Seo-jin's new housewarming wrapped up warmly while sharing heartfelt moments.
In the previous broadcast, Kim Sang-hyuk, who appeared as 'Memory Sallimnam,' drew attention by revealing that he lives with his 72-year-old mother in a 15-pyeong house. Appearing in the studio, Kim Sang-hyuk mentioned, "I received many contacts from people around me, and especially my mother was happy to receive comfort through the broadcast," sharing his feelings after the show.
The second part of Kim Sang-hyuk's story continued. He invited fortune teller Park Seong-jun to his home to consult about his economic situation, marriage, and return to broadcasting. Park Seong-jun remarked, "You were born with the energy to run on a paved road. But you ran wildly," and Kim Sang-hyuk responded with a bitter expression, saying, "I messed up while running so wildly."
In this regard, Park Seong-jun advised Kim Sang-hyuk that it is important to maintain stability, as he has always been surrounded by controversies. He also explained that a suitable partner would appear only after the age of 49.
Discussion also continued regarding Kim Sang-hyuk's hobbies and collectible items for financial investment. Upon seeing the objects filling the 15-pyeong house, Park Seong-jun remarked, "Everything feels stuck. The intention was for financial investment, but it seems that the feng shui was ruined, so it might not work out well," pointing out the dilemma. However, Kim Sang-hyuk maintained his pride in his collection and countered each point. Eventually, Song Ga-in, who was watching, suggested, "I wish a decluttering expert would come visit and organize things. You need a change to start anew; otherwise, you'll just live the same life," and Kim Sang-hyuk nodded in agreement, saying, "It makes so much sense coming from someone who's doing well."
Afterward, Park Seong-jun continued with his advice and criticism, saying, "I've never seen a house like this," "You can't live with a woman like this," and "It's a total mess." Song Ga-in added laughingly, "Sell all that off and move to a bigger and better house. Please."
This episode of 'Sallimnam' showcased the cast's strong camaraderie and genuine aspects through the picnic while providing laughter with Kim Sang-hyuk's candid and humorous story, delivering diverse entertainment.
