Singer Eun Ji-won mentioned his deceased father while confessing about his family affairs.
On the 19th, during the broadcast of KBS 2TV's "Men Who Live Together Season 2," Eun Ji-won and Ji Sang-ryul were seen at Park Seo-jin's housewarming party.
That day, Eun Ji-won and Ji Sang-ryul took a boat driven by Park Seo-jin's father and talked about family. Park Seo-jin's father said, "You should treat your living parents well. They won't know if you don't express affection," and Eun Ji-won noted, "I've written a lot in letters, but I can't say it out loud," showing a passive attitude towards expressing affection.
He continued, "My father was from Gyeongsang-do. When he was young and alive, he was very patriarchal. He even refused to share a meal with my mother and me," adding, "Later, when my father was sick and lying in the hospital, I couldn't bear to see my father, who looked so big, lying there unable to do anything. I couldn’t even visit him properly."
Eun Ji-won recalled thinking of his father upon hearing Park Seo-jin's father's words, saying, "I felt sorry. What good does it do to leave apples on the ancestral rites table if you liked them? The statement to treat them well while they are here felt painfully real."
In response, Eun Ji-won expressed his affection by leaving a video message for his mother, saying, "I love you, and I hope you are always healthy."
Earlier, Eun Ji-won had mentioned his deceased father in January this year, stating, "My father also had a portrait. I don’t know when he prepared it. He did it behind my back," and he continued, "But the portrait is not like bad feelings; it's just that from the moment he passed..."
Eun Ji-won said that he saw Lee Min-woo's mother insisting she wouldn't go to the hospital despite being ill, and how Lee Min-woo was raising his voice, saying, "He's making such a loud noise because he's upset. My father was also sick and continuously hospitalized. I couldn't bear to see my father, who looked so strong when he was well, lying there."
Additionally, Eun Ji-won said, "He suffered for a while before passing. He died of cancer that spread from lung cancer," adding, "Parents really dislike going to the hospital. They seem to be scared. They believe that 'what you don't know is medicine.'"
Meanwhile, Eun Ji-won's father, Eun Hee-man, born in 1935, is known to be 43 years older than Eun Ji-won, who was born in 1978. Eun Ji-won's father passed away in 2018.
