Taeyeon of the group Girls' Generation had her concert in Japan abruptly canceled two days ago, and she apologized directly to fans.
Taeyeon was initially scheduled to hold the 'TAEYEON CONCERT – The TENSE in JAPAN' as part of her Asia tour on April 19 and 20 at the Tokyo Ariake Arena, but the news of the emergency cancellation was announced through the official Japanese website on the 17th.
Taeyeon's agency, SM Entertainment, noted, "We had planned a concert at the Tokyo Ariake Arena on April 19 and 20, but the equipment used for the Asia tour is currently en route to Japan. At this point, it has not yet arrived in Japan, making it very difficult to adequately prepare for the concert."
They added, "We have searched for every possibility through repeated consultations with relevant parties but reached the conclusion that it is difficult to hold the concert in a fully prepared state," and apologized deeply to everyone who had been eagerly waiting for the concert, stating, "We are also reviewing the possibility of a substitute performance. We will provide further information or details as soon as they are decided."
The unprecedented situation of equipment not arriving ultimately led to the cancellation of the concert. Fans expressed their confusion and disappointment over the sudden news.
In response, Taeyeon expressed her feelings directly through a fan communication platform on the 18th. She opened by saying, "When I heard the news about the cancellation of the Japan concert, I worried about my fans, and I felt so bad that I didn't know what to say."
Taeyeon shared, "I hate this situation and I'm sorry to my fans. It feels like my concert, which was created through everyone's efforts and expectations, has vanished in an instant, leaving me with a feeling of being robbed and a sense of emptiness that I don't know how to express."
She also said, "This repeated mistake in such a situation is so disappointing and shocking to me that I can hardly believe it, but my fans must feel it even more," adding, "Thank you for comforting me even in this absurd situation."
In particular, she expressed frustration, saying, "Someone needs to confirm this situation, but since no one is doing anything now, I really can't just sit here and suffer," referring to it as an accident that often happens to singers on overseas tours, she mentioned to a fan's message of comfort, "It is not such an accident, but it is a mistake, and it is true that there were shortcomings."
Meanwhile, Taeyeon's Asia tour, which started in Seoul from March 7 to 9, was supposed to continue to Manila, Philippines, on March 29, Jakarta, Indonesia, on April 12, and then Tokyo, Japan, but was halted due to equipment not arriving. The Asia tour is expected to continue to Macau on the 26th, Singapore on May 3-4, Bangkok on May 31-June 1, and Hong Kong on June 7.
