The lineup of special appearances that enriches 'Resident Playbook' is drawing attention.
In the first episode aired last week on tvN's weekend drama 'Resident Playbook' (creator Shin Won-ho, Lee Woo-jung / director Lee Min-soo / writer Kim Song-hee / planning CJ ENM Studios / production Egg Is Coming) (hereinafter referred to as 'ResiPlay'), Ra Mi-ran (as a bank clerk), Ahn Eun-jin (as Chu Min-ha), and Mun Ji-in (as Lee Young-seon) formed a strong chemistry with first-year residents, adding to the viewing enjoyment.
First, Ra Mi-ran, who received much love as 'Mrs. Cheetah' in the 'Reply' series, brought joy in the first episode by traversing the dreams and reality of Oh Yi-young (played by Go Youn-jung) with delightful humor. Ra Mi-ran's acting, seamlessly embodying various professions from a commanding doctor in the emergency room to a massage therapist with a kind smile hiding a twist, as well as a firm bank clerk, adorned the introduction of 'ResiPlay' and captured everyone's attention.
In the second episode, Ahn Eun-jin, who plays Chu Min-ha from the 'Hospital Playlist' series, captivated viewers. When Oh Yi-young brought a mother to Songdo Yulje Hospital, Chu Min-ha (played by Ahn Eun-jin) comforted her weary heart with warm encouragement while realizing that Oh Yi-young, who arrived with a huge bag like moving luggage, was thinking of running away. She cleverly sent Oh Yi-young back to the hospital under the pretext of delivering documents, showcasing her seniority.
The transformation of Chu Min-ha, who has become a distinguished fellow after her residency, brought delight and warmth to viewers. As a senior who has experienced tough times, her comforting of junior Ahn Eun-jin coupled with a tender gaze created a touching moment. Chu Min-ha's now even more beautiful appearance stood out, and her playful phone conversation with Yang Seok-hyung (played by Kim Dae-myung) exhibited the charm of world-building that can only be experienced in the spin-off.
In addition to Ra Mi-ran and Ahn Eun-jin, who completed the extension of the 'Reply' and 'Hospital Playlist' series, Mun Ji-in left a strong impression on both Oh Yi-young and the audience in her role as Lee Young-seon, who seems to be a single mother. By secretly handing a note saying 'That was not the boyfriend from last time' and suggesting a secret collusion to Oh Yi-young with the profound words 'the first is like the second,' Mun Ji-in's acting that cleverly unfolds Lee Young-seon's unique setup intrigued viewers.
'ResiPlay' is delivering various entertainments, such as emotion, laughter, and empathy, with its lineup of special appearances that serve as a grand integration of the 'Hospital Playlist' and 'Reply' series, alongside the introduction of patients and guardians with their own stories. Especially, as the appearances of various cameos, including the main cast of the 'Hospital Playlist' series known as the 99's, have also been announced, anticipation for the next story is growing.
Moreover, 'ResiPlay' is riding a wave of popularity, ranking high in both global figures and buzz rankings since its first broadcast. According to the Good Data Corporation, which specializes in the competitiveness of K-content, 'ResiPlay' alongside Go Youn-jung (as Oh Yi-young), Jung Jun-won (as Koo Do-won), Kang Yoo-seok (as Eom Jae-il), and Shin Si A (as Pyo Nam-gyeong) ranked among the top 10 drama search issues for the second week of April 2025.
The tvN weekend drama 'Resident Playbook,' which has seen a series of surprise guest appearances, will air its third episode tomorrow (19th) at 9:20 p.m.
