A man in his 30s, referred to as Mr. A, is accused of breaking into comedian Park Na-rae's residence and stealing valuables worth tens of millions of won.
On the 18th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced that they had transferred Mr. A to the prosecution on charges of nighttime residential burglary and theft.
Mr. A is accused of breaking into Park Na-rae's residence in Yongsan-gu on the 4th and stealing valuables. The items stolen by Mr. A included high-priced jewelry, and the estimated loss amounts to tens of millions of won. Mr. A is said to have resold the stolen items.
Additionally, Mr. A is reported to have multiple prior offenses of a similar nature and is believed to have committed theft at another residence in Yongsan-gu, in addition to Park Na-rae's home.
Meanwhile, it was reported that a theft occurred at Park Na-rae's residence on the 8th. Park Na-rae purchased a single-family home located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, for 5.5 billion won in 2021, and had publicly showcased the house through MBC's 'I Live Alone.' After learning about the theft on the 7th, Park Na-rae showed symptoms of shock and canceled her scheduled appearance on MBC Standard FM's 'Son Tae-jin's Trot Radio.'
Park Na-rae's side reported to the police in the afternoon of the 8th after discussions, and while reports emerged saying there were no signs of external intrusion, suspicions about internal involvement arose, but this was confirmed to be false. On the 14th, Park Na-rae's representatives issued an official statement saying, "We consider the incident a theft by an outsider and have provided the CCTV footage from our home to the police to assist with the investigation," and added, "The police identified and arrested the suspect, and it seems a warrant for arrest was also issued."
They further stated, "While some have raised the possibility of internal involvement, we clarify that this is not true. We respectfully ask for restraint in reporting unverified facts," and emphasized, "Groundless false information is being recklessly disseminated through online communities and social media. We will take strong legal action against such falsehoods without leniency."
